First off, we would like to thank Wotofo for sending us this RTA for review. We have been avid fans since the Cubed RDA.
After the wild success of the Profile RDA, a revolutionary mesh build deck design by Mr.JustRight, Wotofo and Mr.JustRight have teamed up with The Vapor Chronicles to create a RTA version of the famed atty. At first glance it’s hard to believe it would work, or that much cotton could wick and fit in a chimney section of an RTA. But somehow this team figured it out and it has paid off in spades.
This is not a tiny RTA but it’s also not the largest out there by any means. But to get things to work some height is needed. Coming in at 48.5mm means you need a beefy mod to make the look work. We think it looks great on the Squid Industries Double Barrel. With the 5ml tank section things could get pretty tall but the 2-3ml section works great and looks far better in our opinion. The overall aesthetic is somewhat polarizing, it’s a tad busy, the indentations on the top and bottom seem unnecessary, cleaner lines would be far nicer. The quality of materials and finish are quite high for the price point. The drip tip is high quality with a nice low profile and great mouth feel. The magic is the build deck and inner chamber. There are alignment tabs to help get the AFC in the right spot to hit the coil and with the wick in place it highly condenses the space to add to the flavour potential. The build deck is almost identical to the Profile RDA with the addition of wicking channels. The clamping system for the mesh coil is the same, as is the revolutionary spring loaded ceramic bottom tray to push your wick towards the coil. Top fill is a simple half turn away, and two large ports make it a rather clean affair. So from a design perspective there are a lot of boxes that have been carefully checked.
Flavour is off the charts. Like the Profile RDA, the horizontal mesh coil with all that surface area and tons of wicking material to soak up your favourite juice makes for a pretty hard to beat equation. Flavour is super saturated and dense. The vapor production will blow your socks off.
Airflow is more versatile than you would think for suck a large atty with an 810 chimney. There are a total of 8 AFC inlets (4 per side) that are controlled by an AFC ring with stops. Fully open is a little crazy for us, but still provides good flavour. However, close it down to 2 or 1 1/2 inlet holes and the flavour pops like you wouldn’t believe. One issue in the design, with all that vapor production and wicking material there are condensation issues as you go through a bunch of tank fulls. We have had to give the AFC ring and inlets a wipe down here and there, nothing to concerning, but it has to be noted (this could be due to running it with a more restricted setting).
Building is pretty much identical to the Profile RDA. Wotofo includes the coil jig to curve/shape the mesh to fit the deck perfectly. The clamps do the job with easy and are ease to deal with. Wicking is where it gets slightly different. Unlike a simple cut and tuck for the RDA, you need to trim the top of the wick leads on a 45˚ angle down to the deck and then cut the base of the leads just past the wicking channels. You want to tuck about 50-60% of the total wick leads into the channels for the optimal wicking. It’s pretty easy to get the hang of. The NexMesh ohms in at the consistent 0.13Ohms and we run it at 60W for a nice dense, extremely flavourful, warm vape.
Juice capacity is surprising for the small tank section. We vape pretty heavy and have to refill maybe 2-3 times per day, which is totally reasonable of the performance and vape quality. The 5ml section would probably reduce this need dramatically if you are okay with the extra added overall height. Filling has been a breeze, we shut off the AFC as a precaution, but we haven’t had any leaking or gurgling after a refill at all.
So this is a bit of a big tank, doesn’t have the sexiest look, but holy cramp does it perform. It’s even hard to say which of the two Profile attys performs better. There is something to be said for the flavour of the RDA without the need to be squonking all the time. It’s good enough that it skipped the line of our review items. We set it up when we received it and haven’t put it down. Like it’s sibling these are two attys that you must have in your collection. You need to experience the magic of these mesh systems, it’s a whole new equation. The flavour density and shear about of wicking material are just so unique. This RTA could be the only one you ever purchase and you would be set to go for a long time coming. We are impressed and you should be too. Go get one if you haven’t already!
