We have to start by congratulating Wotofo from coming back on the scene strong with a couple great product offerings. They went dark for a bit and now they are back with maybe one of the most exciting developments in RDAs in a long time. Sure others have taken a stab at Mesh before and failed miserably. The Profile RDA is in a league all on its own. Lets talk about why you need to score one asap.
By now the Profile has made the rounds with the Youtube reviewer crowd but to be honest we were a little sceptical. With all the simultaneous reviews on the same day or just days apart you begin to wonder if they are just paid promotions or true critiques anymore. We were also concerned this was more of a cloud chucker than a flavourchaser. Let’s face it, it’s not the prettiest or most exciting looking RDA, if anything it looks sort of dated. The good news is the materials are pretty top notch and the centre barrel is chucking and keeps heat under control. The 810 drip tip and the old school stepped AFC also seemed to be a bit of a turn off, we thought there was no chance we would get the type of vape we were craving out of this puppy. We were wrong. The magic is all inside, long flat clamps host the semi-circle mesh coil and are easy to work, but the real innovation is the spring-loaded ceramic wick bed that keeps your cotton firmly against the mesh to ensure little to no chance of dry hits. The deck makes up for its simple exterior 10 fold.
Flavour is simply out of this world. The level of saturation, and vapour production creates a flavour explosion that really doesn’t compare to a lot else on the market. You will taste nuances in your favourite juices you haven’t before. The flavour is so accurate that you will know when you need another squonk way earlier than you would with any other atty.
Airflow is surprisingly more versatile than you would think. Sure fully open it’s like hauling on the tail pipe of a car, but close it down 2/3 to 3/4 of the way and you get a great restricted lung hit. We really don’t get the physics on this one, with more great flavour attys, the airflow is heavily directed directly at the coil to render the best flavour. But with the Profile there is a decent amount of room in there and the airflow just moves freely at its own will. Mind you the gigantic wick leads help condense the chamber quite a bit but still, we wonder what this deck design would be like with a bit more airflow direction control?
Building is a pretty simple task. An included coil jig helps you form the perfect radius one of the included 0.18 Ohm mesh coils and then you just drop it into the clamps and tighten down. Be careful to get the coil seated evenly so the top of the coil is nice and flat to ensure even contact with the wick. Now there has been alot of raving about the OFRF NexMesh 0.13 coils. Yes they have a larger surface area thanks to more and smaller mesh holes, but is the flavour vastly improved? No, it’s marginally better, but you aren’t missing out if all you can get your hands on is the regular Wotofo replacements (and by the way the rumour is OFRF is an offshoot of Wotofo). But if you are after the best possible flavour, yes pick them up. We have also notice a price hike in them recently due to demand. As for wicking, you can buy more of the pre-cut Wotofo wicks if you want to keep it simple or any of the premium strip cotton (Cotton Bacon, Titanium Fibre, etc…) will work as long as you get the thickness right. There are wicking secrets, just cut it so you can fit the ends into the deck without too much pressure.
Juice Capacity isn’t great, the deck is shallow. The wicks are huge! They take up a ton of space (which like we mentioned helps reduce the chamber), but with the centre barrel snapped in place you can squonk like mad with little to no chance of leaking. And you will find yourself squonking alot! All that surface area on that glorious mesh eats juice like mad. The Profile is a great atty to shit on top of the Topside mod (review coming) and that 10ml juice capacity comes in handy. All that flavour and vapor comes at a cost of burning through juice like you never have before. So this is something to consider.
The Profile is just an awesome RDA. One of the most exciting developments in a long time. And we are happy we gave it a go even though we thought this wasn’t going to be up our alley. This shouldn’t even be a consideration, it should be a when are you getting yours and which of the 16 colour ways are you going to choose (insane! 16 colours). We have to really dig to find some cons, in reality there aren’t any. Enjoy, we sure are.
