We have taken the trip with Nareg and sampled all his amazing creations except for the NarBA and his tube mods, the NarEA may just be his opus. Then again we were all amazed on the evolution of the NarDA to the NarCA. Just how is it that he can keep evolving his concept of a dual airflow on a single coil RDA time and time again? Let’s get into what makes the NarEA just as stellar as anything else this extremely talented modder creates.
From the top cap or outside the NarEA is barely distinguishable from the NarCA. It definitely belongs in the family and the aesthetic is clean and simple just the way we like it. It’s great to see the removal of AFC stops, it makes for much easier alignment and control. Ricardo Monsalve (PPM Worx) has provided a clean and beautiful drip tip that has great mouth feel and hits the look of the NarMods RDA. But this is the best included tip yet. But enough about the outside, let’s get to the genius. The build deck/chamber design is what sets this atty apart. The deck looks like something out of a sci-fi film. Curved lines, organic looking shapes made of metal, airflow inlets cut on odd and interesting angles, the whole thing looks out of this world. This is not really an evolution, but a full transformation into something much different. Sure it’s dual airflow on a single center coil, but there is some other factors going on. First the airflow is directed on an angle and then forced down under the coil, then there is the inner chamber that is so condensed it acts more like an 18mm atty than a 22. Grub screws have taken the place of the famed large screw heads of the NarDA and NarCA making for a new and easier build experience (removing one grub screw is the way to go). Also let’s not forget the top cap slams down on the deck leaving very little space to continue this goal of condensing the inner chamber as much as possible. The NarEA is an exercise in extremes, Nareg has tried to get the most out of this atty, using every bit of expertise and knowledge he has gathered to date while pushing the envelope of every tolerance. He is the king of RDAs
Flavour is exceptional. Understanding that the NarEA needs to be treated differently than past NarMods RDAs is key. If you build with that in mind, that it’s so condensed and needs a less rowdy build to get what you are looking for it will pay in spades full of flavour! Your juices will come to life in a whole new way with the NarEA. We have had a juice maker not recognize their own juice with this atty, it brings out that kind of subtlety.
Airflow is the most interesting of any NarMods atty. There is a subtle turbulence based on the design that is definitely intentional. It adds a level of satisfaction to every haul you draw. Closing the AFC down to about 1/3 gives a really beautiful restricted lung hit we crave. Whistling is a thing of the past, you will never hear one out of this atty.
Building is almost a no brainer. Nareg has thought through everything (probably 10 times, before he decided on the final direction). There are coiling rod slots that perfectly align you 2.5 or 3mm coil with the airflow. The coil needs to sit just below the top of the build deck (1-2mm) and the slots make this very easy to accomplish. We had some trouble at first, we put the wrong type of builds and didn’t get the performance we expected. It’s not till we grasped to treat it like a smaller atty that we got to the right build. We found a 2.5mm, small gauge clapton, at around 0.65 ohm, and run at 23-25W did the trick (not pictured). It’s a warmer than you would think vape, full of flavour and dense tasty vapor without any concern or noticeable heat transfer to the top cap.
The juice well is sort of deep, but small at the same time. You don’t need to squonk a lot to flood your coil. You won’t have a leak, but maybe a couple sloppy hauls if you are heavy handed. So take it easy.
We sort of gave it away early on in the review. We love the NarEA, Nareg has done it again. We still can’t believe the creative genius he possesses and how he can keep producing one mind blowing product after the next. Where will he take us from here? One thing is for sure, I hope I catch a ride on that journey. Sure these are hard to get, they cost a lot, but if you have never had a NarMods product, this is the one.
