VO Distro or now VO Tech have been playing in the modder space for a while now. They have a decent atty, the Evolve RDA and they have made some chips for a couple other mods, but now they have their own mod and it’s pretty good.
The Dagger is pretty original, it has an aesthetic all it own with a unique silhouette that makes it stand out from the crowd. Its size, hand feel, and fit & finish really make it a mod worth checking out. Right off the bat it looks and feels way more expensive than it is. Its solid, with a finish that is almost bulletproof. The battery door swings up on a hinge and nothing rattles on the mod anywhere. There are magnet side panels that can be swapped for different designs, but right out of the box the carbon fiber panels are pretty dope (not overly shinny, which is good). The packaging tube is well executed and again contributes to a rather premium experience. VO Tech has done a great job, they haven’t missed a single detail, well maybe one or two…
For $70 this mod is a steal, it performs well and has a decent battery life for a single 18650. The size is sort of perfect, not too big and really a great size to fit well in the hand. All the edges are nicely rounded to give a comfortable feel. The screen is well lit and has a nice solid glass window that can take a hit (pretty scratch resistant). The buttons are solid too, and have a nice click to them. Also the mod is wide enough to accommodate all the new 24-25mm attys out lately, they look right a home and look really great if they are black too. There is a evil vibe to the whole package that we dig.
There are really only two shortcomings, one isn’t a big deal and the other might be. The first is the automatic temp mode, it doesn’t really work. Well it does with some stainless steel coil attys, but it produces a cooler vape and can sometimes flake out and need to be reset to get functioning again (pulling the atty on and off it). Also there is a manual temp mode that works just fine. The second is a bit of a bigger deal, we have had trouble making a connection with attys that have shorter 510 connectors. Basically the throw of the 510 spring is short or depth of the 510 is a little too deep. So if your favourite atty doesn’t make a connection it might be a deal breaker for you.
VO Tech has a gem of a mod with the Dagger. Not only is it well designed, built, and packaged they have tried to produce some new tech that is a rather promising. The idea of automatic temp control is something a lot of manufactures have tried to crack and VO’s is the first that is somewhat exciting in theory. It’s close, and we’re sure it will get there, but even with it not working it shouldn’t stop you for grabbing a Dagger. If you are in the market for a solid, premium, sexy little 75W mod then you need to check this one out. For the money it’s a steal.
Found review well presented. And informational. Only thing I think I’d like to know is if USB port charging is smart charging( Can I leave it plugged in over night)?
Hey Andrew,
It will most likely do fine, but we don’t advise you to do so. External chargers are cheap and give you more options (amp rates, multiple batteries, etc…) and are much safer. We have really been enjoying the Efest LUC series of chargers.
May i suggest you to do a review for Asvape Strider? it uses VO chipset too, cheers
Hey Khairul,
If we get our hands on a strider we will for sure. Thanks so much.
compare to dna 75 chipset like vt75 nano,, which is better bro.?
Asril the DNA75 for sure as long as you don’t mind the 6.6V cap.
