Hello after a long time away. We thought it was time to get some reviews out, but we will be less frequent than before and only with products that really have something new to offer. After the last year or so and the age of the disposable pods taking over, it seems that there are some big improvements coming from the more traditional setups or pod systems with interchangeable coils as opposed to fully disposable units. Our friends over at Wotofo have been busy! They have kindly sent us quite a few of their new offering and we will be covering quite a few of them because they just can’t be ignored.
So let’s get down to it with this first review of their new Manik Pod Mod.
The Manik is hard to believe, with it’s modern yet clean design, premium feeling materials and awesome ergonomics at a price that seems insane. Mods of this caliber would have cost more than double this in years past. The screen is bright in most conditions other than very bright sun (still usable however). The leather like grip adds to the premium feel and along with the 4 different colour combinations available it adds striking contrast. The chipset delivers consistent and instant power and the customizable colour display (6 colour options) makes for easy to understand setting and stats. The layout and font choices of the display are again something fresh and great to see.
An easy access fill port on the top of the pod makes filling a breeze without the need to remove the pod. We are impressed with the level of thought and design that Wotofo has delivered in the Manik. Replacement Pods are available and there are 4 different mesh coil options to choose from. For the review we had access to the D11 (single 0.2 mesh) and D13 (single 0.2 A1 steel mesh) and both were great options. The unit comes with one of the D14 (conical A1 steel mesh) coils and it was a stand out, edging out on the best flavour for sure. But all the coils deliver pretty outstanding performance. There is a final D15 (single clapton 0.2 mesh) that we haven’t had the pleasure of trying.
Flavour and airflow is pretty outstanding for a pod mod. Airflow is very open with two large air intake ports just below the pod. But you can easily modulate the intake with your finger as you curl it around the mod to change the flow to a more restricted lung hit. If you are looking for a tight mouth to lung hit look else where, but Wotofo has you covered with the Manik Mini which we will have a review up for shortly. Pods last a surprisingly long time, many times lasting longer than a week on average (with several juice type changes).
For $35 you really can’t go wrong with the Manik Pod Mod. It looks way more premium than it costs, performs and delivers pretty outstanding flavour. The design is fresh, comfortable in the hand, and seems to stand up well to everyday abuse. The only gripe we have is the plastic on the screen area tends to show scuffs and micro scratches easily, if you are super detail oriented and hate when a mod shows wear this could get to you. But at such a low cost a replacement now and then is easy to afford. What an offering from one of our favourite mass production companies, we are so impressed with this renaissance of design and performance the company is obviously undertaking. There is lots more to come from us on this.
