So there has been a lot of hype around this one. And in a way the Vladdin deserves some of it. Yes, the flavour is very good, better than many other systems out there right now. And the visual look or aesthetic of the system is rather unique. But there is a bit of a fatal flaw with the Vladdin…
Like we mentioned the Vladdin has a really unique design with a sort of double teardrop profile that has a unique look and hand feel. This set up is probably one of the more elegant and higher end looking of the bunch, looking much more expensive than it is. The slit led that activates on inhale along with the coil also has nice visual flair. The diagonal pod base is also something that stands out (but may be some of the cause of the major issue we have). Magnets in the top pod base hold the pods in place and from a design perspective everything looks to be well thought out until it’s put to use.
Flavour is above average. Clean, crisp flavour thanks to the ceramic coil that seems to have no issues wicking 50/50 or 60/40 Salt Nic e-liquids. You will taste nuances in your liquids you may not in other systems. This is a major plus and shouldn’t be ignored as a large benefit.
Airflow is definitely a MTL but a bit more open than some. It’s a nice draw, open enough that you won’t be sucking on any juice, while giving a satisfying vape when everything is operating as it should. Yeah we are getting to it…
Pods have an easy fill method, pop the mouth piece off to reveal a rubber gasket that pops off as well, giving access to two fill holes. The design of the juice level window is unique and functions reasonable well, however many times it’s the start of a dryer hit that signals a refill. Thanks to the ceramic coils the pods have longer lives than other systems out there.
So the fatal flaw…. The pods have a lot of wiggle room, both side to side and back and forth. You can feel it when you take a draw. But worse, it effects overall performance. Many times we need to play with the coil to get a solid connection to get the coil to fire to its full performance. Meaning the vape is inconsistent to rather annoying levels. When it is firing right, it’s a tasty vape, when it’s not you are wiggling, popping the pod in and out, adding pressure to one side of the coil, doing what ever you can to get it to fire right. The Vladdin is a beautiful looking system with great pods at a fair price, they just need to revise this pod connection badly. And like we said it’s most likely that dope looking angled base that has to go (or maybe an o-ring at the base, something). So for now, look on, go for something else.
