Yet another pod system up here for review. This one was sent to us by our friends over at Vape29 one of the best shops in Toronto, Canada hands down. The Kwit Stick by Kwit Stick but manufactured by Aspire. It has a lot of similarities to the Juul for sure but with a couple big differences…
Aesthetically its a little pretty to look at and the wider form factor makes it feel more natural in the hand. The pods are all re-fillable which is a big perk, however the learning curve to getting the pods filled is another story we will get into. 20 min fast charging makes this a great all day vape. Kwit Stick also produces 4 flavour profiles (Mango, Mint, Watermelon & Tobacco) that are all pretty decent, but they are all 5% or 50mg Nic Salts so they hit very hard. But if you like the flavours you can buy a bottle separately to re-fill your empty pods with an included needle nose bottle (nice touch). The mouth piece has a great mouth feel and again it’s the wider width and beveled edges that set this system apart from the competition.
Flavour is decent, the coils are very simple cotton based setups. Wicking doesn’t seem to be an issue but we have found the flavour mutes pretty fast as any gunk of any kind starts to build on the coil. These are tiny coils and because of it they are not forgiving at all.
Airflow is nice and open compared to alot of other systems, sure it’s still an MTL but truly boarding on a direct lung hit. But it does feel like there is too much airflow for the coil and it seems to over power it and hinder flavour.
It’s great that the pods all come re-fillable, a huge plus really. But refilling them is a really tricky operation. The chimney really gets in the way and the fill whole is so small that there isn’t a lot of room for air to escape while filling. So you have to learn to place the bottle on an extreme angle against the chimney and go super slow to get the juice to flow past the chimney if you are going to get the best fill possible. It’s just plain annoying. The life of the pods is also rather disappointing, we tried all kinds of different strength and type of Salt Nic juice and never got more that 2-3 re-fills past the original Kwit Stick juice. Again we think it’s the old school tiny cotton based coils at fault here. Too bad they didn’t opt for a ceramic based solution.
Sure we think the Kwit Stick hits harder and produces more vapour than a Juul, but just like the Juul pods are expensive, hold less than 2ml of juice, and are a pain to use. The one big plus is the pods fit extremely well and seem to fire every time with no need to wiggle or reset them like a lot of other pod systems suffer from. But at about $30 without a single pod or closer to $50 with 4 pods (basically the cost of separate pods, no deal here) this isn’t a cheap vaping solution. And the juice capacity is very tight, you’d be lucky to get through a night out on a single pod. This all makes the Kwit Stick a pretty expensive vape solution. With so many on the market and unless you are looking for some seriously strong hitting vapor, check out all the pod systems out there before making your final decision.
