This is a serious hit of nostalgia for us and many other long time vapers for sure. Many us started out on a Nautilus tank, they were the go to and still are for many new vapers. And for good reason, Aspire BVC coils are pretty magical and have awesome life spans.
For a long time, years actually, the Nautilus and Nautilus Mini were unchanged but still served a huge segment of the market. To be frank it was about time Aspire took the outdated design into space. One of the biggest changes is the top fill and it’s an interesting take on it. Threaded and then once open, push aside to reveal a large port. It works great but watch your drip tip, it tends to push it up a little and need to be popped back into place when you are done. The overall aesthetic is much improved and more modern. It may bot be for everyone, it looks a little like a 50s robot head. But it grows on you. One thing that seems to be a bit of an annoyance is the way the coils load. The tank needs to be empty (or close to it), the bottom unscrews from the outer metal sleeve that is all one piece with the top. The glass is held in by an o-ring (that is a bitch to remove new), once removed you can change your coil by screwing it in and out of the base. You learn to live with it, but when a coil is on it’s last legs you need to grin and bear it till your juice level gets low enough (or dump the tank). Their are two drip tips included, one (the longer one) pays homage to the original Nautilus and the other is much more modern and better suited. Overall the new design is a much need and very appreciated rejuvenation of a beloved tank.
Flavour is very good with the right coil. There are many versions of the BVC including a brand new 0.4 ohm rendition that Aspire released with the 2S. But all BVC coils fit, so that means there are 1.8, 1.2, 0.7 and the 0.4 ohm as possible choices. Depending on if you are looking at Salt Nic or not may play a part in your decision but we have found the 0.7ohm is the absolute sweet spot. Running it at 18w we have flavour for days, the warm we are after, and coil life that is extremely impressive (10-14 days!).
Airflow is much more flexible than the original. The 2S can get down to a very tight MTL or fully open to a nice lung hit. Coil choice again here will dictate what makes sense along with your preferred style of vaping.
Juice capacity at 2.6ml is pretty decent for this 23mm tank, the overall height of the tank is also not too obnoxious which we like (of course unless you want to rock that crazy metal tip). Depending on how heavy you vape you can usually get through a day only filling it about twice.
What a blast from the past while being new and different at the same time. This is the perfect tank for a vacation, or those days and nights when you have had enough of your rebuildables. The flavour is on point, the aesthetics should work with your choice of mod, and the value is downright fair. BVC coils have lasted for a reason, they are awesome, and it’s no surprise so many people rock them in their Billet Boxes. Now you have a cheap and decent looking tank with more performance options than ever before with top fill. No brainer? Absolutely!
