We have been taking it easy for far too long. Sorry we haven’t been posting more product reviews, just getting back into the swing of things after moving back to Canada for the summer.
We are supper stoked that the first big product review is a monster of an atty from our friends at Deathwish Modz. Their new Death Trap RDA is a true beast with a 30mm diameter, a deck that can take anything you throw at it, and a juice well that holds tank like amounts of juice.
Sure, we are all about Flavourchasing and this atty is much more on the Cloud Chucking side of things. But, and a big but, it does produce some pretty decent flavour for the size. Aesthetically it’s clean, not too tall and beautifully finished. The wide as hell bore ultem tip has a very pleasant mouth, even though it’s on the tailpipe kinda size scale. But the lines are clean, the AFC is extremely versatile with both bottom and side airflow settings, and inside gets interesting. The build deck is off to one side and houses two large and very stable clamps with 2 screws per clamp. This is not a condensed vapor chamber, it will fit extremely large and intricate builds. Really a coil builder’s showcase dream (a quick google search and you will find some real works of art). This is a big atty designed to be paired with a large series mech box, if that’s your thing the Death Trap is pure atty nirvana.
Flavour is pretty damn good for how large the Death Trap is. It’s a short atty, you are right on top of coil, so if it’s set right you get some pretty tasty vapor. Sure there is better with some serious flavour attys, but it holds its own with some. So yeah, this atty bridges the gap, giving some Cloud Chuckers damn good flavour.
Airflow is monstrous, fully open it’s more than we can inhale. We are surprised at how smooth it is. Quiet too. For us we of course close down the side airflow completely and play with how open the bottom airflow is set. With just the bottom airflow (really lower side airflow) you get a nice restricted lung hit. As for Vapor production, hahaha… insane, volumous, and dense.
Building is rather easy affair. The Clamps secure anything you throw at it. We threw in a crazy Alien 38/30×5 TRVP E-cigarettes.ca Clapton Coil, 5 wraps, 3.5mm ID, Ohming in around 0.5, and run it 50-60W. It gives a nice warm flavourful vape with zero spit back. We wish there was some bevelling on the clamp edges to make placing your wire leads even easier, but it’s an easy build. We set our wick leads to just hit the deck, there is a nice design detail here too, there are little indents for your wick ends to sit in.
Juice Capacity is insane thanks to the 30mm diameter. Juicing up is a true blob it in and forget about it, easily taking 30+ drops of juice. The Death Trap is set up nicely to squonk too, comes with an included BF pin (we just don’t have a squonker large enough to accommodate an 30mm atty). Watch you juice levels a bit, like other side/bottom airflow slotted attys, if the juice level rises too high it will leak out the AFC.
We can’t thank Maxime from Deathwish enough for sending us this atty. We were sceptical when we heard about the size of the atty, but the flavour is there. All the Deathwish mods products are produced and designed with a lot of love, the quality and details are all there. Even better, there is a 24mm version of the Death Trap coming very soon (it will have some slight design differences to accommodate the condensed form factor)! Now that is a version we are going to have to get our hands on. We are so stoked to see the continued success of Maxime and Deathwish, it’s only the beginning for sure.
