HCigar has been stepping things up with a bunch of original Mods and Attys lately. The Zoro RDA is their first serious effort in the dripper space. It’s an innovative atty, think of it as a cross between a Wotofo Freakshow and the Steam Crave Aromamizer.
What makes this atty different is the top cap/center ring, it’s one piece and it has a solid top with several holes drilled around the circumference and one in the center that acts as a juice delivery system. Yeah this sounds complicated, but it’s a system that works rather well. Basically the top cap brings air to your mouth through the outer holes and you drip your juice in the center and it slowly drips onto your coils. These outer holes create a silky smooth airflow while the solid top cap eliminates any chance of spit back. The draw has a resistance feel that will remind you of the Aromamizer. There is only one drip tip option and that is through the included chuff cap that is nice and thick and has a wonderful mouth feel.
The build deck is very similar to the Freakshow, with bottom airflow holes the sit under your coils (hang about half your coil over the holes). The center ring is only set up for dual airflow so it’s dual builds only which will be a con for some. Building is very easy thanks to the large 4 post holes and along with grub screws it’s a piece of cake to secure your wire leads. The juice well is much larger than a Freakshow, holding somewhere between 12-15 drops of juice, there is also a lip around each air hole to help with leaking. It doesn’t really leak but it does build up a lot of condensation that can act like a leak if you don’t maintain and clean the base and top cap/center ring occasionally.
Flavour is good, not great, it does produce nice thick vapor. The vapor chamber is smaller than it looks, it’s a tall atty, but the deck is tall and the top cap concaves quite a bit, helping to reduce the overall inner space. We found that the Zoro likes to be high on the wattage to produce optimal flavour, this isn’t an atty for a mod with less than 60w, you will find yourself pumping up your settings quite a bit. This also leads to increased juice consumption, she drinks it. Playing with the AFC can bring this one from cloudchaser to flavourchaser (we run it almost completely closed down, just a little circle of airflow). It is an airy draw for sure.
We are on the fence about the Zoro, it’s got some good things going on but the flavour just isn’t good enough really. But the draw and vapor production keep it in the running, think of this as an atty for those more aggressive vape days when you really want to haul on the vapor. It’s right on the line of being more of a cloudchaser but the flavour is better than most. It really comes down to the draw, you will love it or hate it and make your decision from there. If you are looking to try something different without having to spend a ton of cash this might be the one.
