Meet the Covet REV. This is one atty that is absolutely worth REVeling in…
This is one clean looking RDA from the outside. With the included top cap it’s a rather simple looking exterior. There is an M-Atty style top gasket design that seats the integrated drip tip or the included adapter, the tolerances are sublime, perfect. And this is a great way to drip or check your squonk without needing to remove the complete top cap. We were lucky enough to also acquire the limited edition satin top cap which sports the original AFC design (prototype). The beveled and indented design is more unique and offers slightly more airflow. We aren’t sure why this wasn’t the design for final production but it’s nice that you can get it separately. The REV really shines on the inside. It’s a condensed chamber with a rather unique two post design. The posts are beautifully curved and sport a stepped clamp design that functions extremely well. The post screws are smaller flatheads, we had concerns about their ability and torque tolerances, but we are happy to report they have worked extremely well (you just need the right, smaller jeweller driver). The included SCR (single coil reducer) is one of the best we have ever seen, it’s designed to truly shut down half the atty from base to top of the chamber. The two slits cut into the sides for you to grasp with your nails is pure genius. The REV also sports some of the deepest juice wells we have seen is such a small 22mm RDA. These juice wells also function great when squonking, filling nicely with the BF pin in a perfect position to get the job done. There is so much great design thinking and care put into every detail, the O-ring tolerances are absolutely nailed. There are two small issues, one the drip tip adapter has a narrow chimney section that causes overhang on many drip tips (wish it was a tad wider, really would like to use a HF Whistle tip), second the 510 is on the short side and has issues connecting with some mods (just a couple more threads would make a big difference). But these aren’t deal breakers and there is really so much great going on for the REV.
Flavour is always a serious consideration when you are dealing with high end attys at this price point. We are happy to report the REV won’t let you down. It’s up there with the best of them. Whether you rock a single or dual build, flavour is nice and intense and easy to maximize. Even with the reduced overall chamber the REV likes bigger coils (lower Ohm) than you would think. It’s a nice warm vape in most cases, nothing overbearing or out of control to get the best flavour.
Airflow is perfect for restricted lung hit lovers. The AFC range is pretty much prefect for Flavourchasing. Both top caps won’t give you crazy open draws, just the prefect amount of restriction for a nice lung hit. You can get a decent MTL as well thanks to the narrow height of the airflow slots. Those prefect o-ring tolerances make AFC adjustment a joy. That’s the thing with locally made high end attys, they are expensive, usually made of great materials, and it’s these little details that make it worth the investment.
Building on the REV is a cake walk. The stepped clamps work perfectly and give you a lot of options for coil lead placement. For single coil builds you will find that placing your leads in the top step works great. Dual build utilize the staggered or stepped placement. Coil placement is pretty forgiving but does best for maximum flavour as close to the posts as you can. Align the top of your coil with the top of the clamps (not the screws) and you are in for some tasty bottom airflow. With 3mm coils they shut down the free space in the chamber to again maximize flavour and airflow direction. A dual 24 awg, spaced or micro, 7 wrap, 3mm, 0.4 ohm build is quite nice. But a single Clapton or 22-24 awg spaced build does it for us. We have had great flavour and performance with a 0.5 ohm 28/36 fused clapton run at 25-30W and are currently enjoying a 0.2 Ohm, 22 awg, 3mm, 6 wrap, spaced, run under powered at 33-35W. Basically the REV is very versatile, there isn’t one magic build, you can play a lot. Everything we have put in has had great flavour and can be dialled in for the perfect temperature.
Juice capacity is great thanks to those juice wells. You should be able to get 20+ drops dripping and squonking you can expect 6-8 good long glorious hauls before a re-squeeze. The juice wells do a great job of positioning you wick leads for great saturation. Make sure to cut your leads a little longer than you think to get them placed all the way to the bottom of the wells.
Like we said, the REV is an atty to Revere or Revel in (living up to it’s namesake). Made beautifully by two great guys (TJ Ridley & Nicholas Gaskill) with tons of love and consideration. Like always the high end shit is hard to get. There are currently 100 in the wild and more on the way hopefully. They are locally made in Oregon and take time. Sales are currently done on a secret Facebook group by random list that push to their site for checkout. In our quest for flavour we keep finding ourselves in this crazy high end world, we wish it was different, easier, but that isn’t the case at the moment. So of course we recommend this beautiful atty, getting one will be challenging. Here is to hoping there are more awesome products coming from the Covet team!
