The SX Mini – M Class is currently the best Variable Wattage/Volatage MOD on the market. It’s hands down better than all the rest. It feels awesome in the hand, has tons of features, and a build quality that gives it a swagger like no other. The first SX Mini – S Class had many of the same qualities minus the new temperature control settings of the M, so if you are not that interested in temp control than there are deals to be had on used S Classes (remember they are only 2-3 months old currently). There are some nicer qualities to the rounded edges that improve hand feel, and some improvements to the user interface however that may sway you to the M.
We have yet to get into temp control on this device which is why we will do another part to this review. As for regular mode, it hits hard and the power settings(curves) can really bring out more flavour in your juices. It’s one of the best features, having another way of controlling power delivery to your coil gives you the ability to fine tune for each juice and flavour profile.
There are some cons, it’s heavy, not very efficient with battery use (seems to have a noticeable drop in hit quality under 3.75V, 3-4hrs of vape time under 36 Watts per battery), and the battery door (really a screw top) is awkward and just sucks.
But there is just some much about this device that far out way these cons. It feels and looks luxurious, and the features and tech it offers just can’t be found anywhere else (if you want to build your own box for chipset you would get a lot of these) currently. So if you have the cash, BUY IT!
Update: Been vaping the SX for about a month and our first impressions still hold true. It’s a great device, hits hard, sucks batteries and feels great in the hand. The finish on the grip section is starting to scratch or flake (under very pampered use) which is upsetting (ordered a Jwrap for it).
The Power Curve settings are a real treat, it’s amazing having that little extra fine tuning makes a big difference. It definitely sets this Mod apart and makes it feel more premium. You would be surprised at how different attys perform better with this ability. For example most RTAs shine with ‘Soft’ and RDAs with more airflow love ‘Powerful’.
Temp Control is better than the DNA 40 but its noisy due to the Pulse Width Modulation and the occasional buzz it puts off. Still digging kanthal for its more consistent vape. The battery top gets silkier and easier to use with age, that or just used to it. Treat yourself to this killer mod.
