Vaponaute has always made superb attys (and mech mods), when La Petite Box was announced we were stoked to get our hands on one. La Petite Box is their first regulated mod done in partnership with WISMEC.
Léopold (Modder) has a background in jewelry design and it shows in everything he does. The details of this mod are like a fine watch. The contours add flair and function. The 510 and surround design are perfectly figured out (although it will only fit 22mm or smaller attys) and allows for airflow. Any of the Vaponaute attys look beautiful on top of this mod (as they should). This is a small mod, yet the weight and hand feel give it some substance. There is one hard edge at the bottom of the mod that while it looks great, doesn’t feel great in the hand (not horrible, a slight beveled edge would have been nice, we get the aesthetic reasoning though). There is a spring-loaded battery door that works well and is a nice touch. Branding is tasteful and deadly accurate (engraving). The design/silhouette is unique, we love it. But it has to be said, the large plastic screen with the standard WISMEC interface is a bit of a let down. Sure we understand the economy of scale and that this partnership more than likely made this project possible. It’s just this mod feels and looks high end but with a screen and chipset from a pretty standard, easily accessible, affordable mod series. We would love to see a mod of this caliber with a chipset/screen to match it (Evolve DNA, VO Tech, or Dicodes).
That said the Chipset does its job just fine. There are plenty of features to make most happy and the battery life is quite good for a single 18650 setup. Again we just wish for something a bit more elegant.
Fit & Finish is good, the body of the mod is outstanding. The tolerances around the buttons could be a tad tighter and the button press is also a tad mushy (board’s fault). The fire button has a nice design and material. The Black finish we have has a matte look, but under light has a sparkle of metallic flake, its sort of extraordinary. We are sorry to report however that we have had some trouble with paint flaking/scratching off the bottom of the mod from everyday regular use as well as one tiny little chip by the fire button (drives us a little nuts). But overall it is holding up okay.
Vaponaute has teamed up with Beluga Vape to make a beautiful leather case that should protect your La Petite and give it an additional flair of style.
That’s just it, the La Petite Box is a high end mod that is affordable. It’s tiny, made quite well for the price point, and is somewhat accessible (currently out of stock, should have more soon). It’s also probably the nicest mod with a WISMEC chipset inside. Like we said we love Vaponaute and hope to see more regulated mods from them, here’s to hoping the next soars a little higher.
This is a solid (and weighty) mod from vaponaute. Feels like it will survive a good deal of abuse and looks like it’s been fashioned from The Terminator’s skull. Had mine a little under a year and still looks like new.
While the default firmware is fine for the Wismec chipset, this mod is also Arctic Fox compatible (NFEteam.org), which provides a software experience similar to what EVOLV software is to DNA chipsets. A must upgrade for the ‘tweaker’, especially for managing pre-heat and TCR/TFR curves.
