The original DNA40 S-Body Macro was a popular mod, well S-Body has gone and updated the chipset to now offer the more powerful (75W) and feature rich Evolve DNA75. It shares almost every other design cue from the original but the added power is a real nice to have.
This is a tiny mod. About the size of the original Vaporshark rDNA but with the ability to change out the 18650 battery. Nice clicky buttons that don’t rattle and a light weight mostly aluminum body make this a very nice in the hand mod. The Screen on the side of the mod is a nice touch and is rather useable (it also helps make this mod so compact). Really our only issue with the design is the design graphics or details, there are just too many that make it a little busy. If only the racing stripe was omitted and the Macro and S-Body logos were body colour, it would be much nicer. Also the extra hit of silver around the display is not needed either. We are sure an all murdered out (all black) colour way would go gang busters. But these mods are selling very well, so maybe it’s just us.
It’s an Evolve DNA75 chipset, it’s awesome. There really isn’t much to say, we are big fans of the DNA series chipsets. The Macro comes reasonably well configured, but with all DNA chipsets that can sync with Escribe, it’s best to fine tune the settings yourself (Screen Orientation, Display Timeouts and Readings, Wire Materials, Battery Cutoff, etc..). The 510 connection is nothing super special but it works well and is spring loaded.
Battery life is decent, actually pretty good. It’s easy to get at least half a day of solid vaping out of a single 18650 (although this is vaping in and around the 40W mark).
Fit & Finish is pretty good, the materials are all good quality. The buttons are metal (aluminum?) and have a nice concave design that feel great and have a nice solid click with no rattle. The adjustment buttons are rather flush to the body of the mod and require a nice solid and intentional press, this can be a little annoying at times (although it stops unintentional adjustments). We have been a little rough on ours and it is showing a couple nicks and wear on the underside from being placed on multiple surface types. But overall its pretty tough, an anodized finish would be a nice addition.
If you are looking for a tiny mod with a DNA75 chipset that won’t kill your budget, the S-Body Macro DNA75 is a solid choice. They are a little hard to get your hands on, they keep selling out, but restocking seems pretty regular. One more thing, if you like to rock 24mm or larger attys you might need to keep looking, even though the specs sight 24mm the beveled edges make it more suitable to 22mm attys.
