When high end Mod maker, Vapedroid (know for his awesome 3D printed DNA40 Mod) teamed up with S-body we had a feeling it would be a match made in heaven and it is. The C1D2 is definitely one of the best Mods of 2016, albeit a little hard to get your hands on…
It starts with the hand feel, the tear dropped shape is extremely ergonomic and feels very natural. The design aesthetic looks more like something you would see on the stealth bomber more than on a Mod, it’s evil and we like it. The materials and fit & finish are very good, the gap tolerances around the battery door are perfect. Everything about this mod screams high end but with a mid range price tag it’s a pretty great deal.
There was some trouble at the onset with a custom chipset but this was quickly solved with an Evolve DNA75 board which as you know we are big fans of Evolve. It’s a great chipset and like all DNA boards, we truly believe the intelligence and power delivery to the coil is like nothing else on the market (it just gives better flavour).
Battery Life is great with a decent high mAh 26650, getting you a full day of vaping in around the 50W mark. The C1D2 comes with a 18650 sled that allows you to run both battery types, but, we find that the bottom positive contact is too flat and causes connection issues with some batteries. Also it has been reported, and we have just experienced this as well, if you leave a battery in the mod for an extended period it will drain the battery below recommended levels (below 3.2V). Now this is a problem but during normal day to day use it doesn’t cause issues as you are running through your battery and charging it anyhow. But if you leave it on a shelf for an extended period, take the battery out (there is a wiring fix that some have done, but it involves a lot of effort). There is a good chance that future revs this won’t have this issue.
The overall durability is fair to good, there is an awesome slightly rubberized feel to the finish, but it does seem to be prone to small surface scratches over time (couple months of use). It’s a bit of a pity due to its awesome stealthy looks, scratches or nics become very apparent. Another little nit picky thing is the debossed Vapedroid logo on the top of the mod tends to gather juice condensation.
The Vapedroid C1D2 is an awesome mod at a great price. 26650s have been getting better lately and the hand feel and weight to the Mod with a 26650 is really solid and the battery life is really decent. The chipset is rock solid and the aesthetics scream high end. Really the only major con for the C1D2 is availability, they keep selling out making it hard to score one. Vapedroid also has another Mod launching, the C2D1, a dual 18650 box with the DNA250 chipset. So hopefully there will be a couple of Vapedroids to choose from soon (currently both are sold out).
Update
We have started to notice the finish on the mod degrading quickly. The Finish is flaking off the battery door and we are noticing that the mod seems to show nics and scratches more easily than before. We do know that S-Body and Vapedroid have moved to a harder more durable power coating for new releases. But Vapedroid has you covered literally, for 10€ you can get a newly released sexy silicon sleeve to hide those blemishes and protect the mod from further issue. Grab one here from Vapedroid.
