Well sometimes we are a little late to the game with our reviews. The Berserker sat in our review pile for quite a while, but we fired it up this week and we’re very pleasantly surprised. The Berserker MTL RTA is a joint effort of Vandy Vape and YouTube reviewer Alex from VapersMD. It was one of the first mass produced MTL tanks to come out of Asia that wasn’t a clone. Some might say it was ahead of the curve when it comes to the now large resurgence of MTL vaping.
The design aestethically is a little busy for us but inside is rather simple and very functional. The Berserker borrows some design cues from the Kayfun in the style of posts and lead securing. Which of course works very well. The wicking channels sit elevated from the bottom of the deck with juice port holes on the bottom, this creates a nice vacuum that aids in above average wicking. The only major flaw is the lack of juice flow control which this atty could use. We have noticed no matter how we wick it there is always a little seepage and flooding of the chamber when re-filling the atty after it as been in use for a while. It’s best to just remove it from the mod on refill to keep any mess that could potentially happen off the mod. However we are talking very small amounts of seepage and flooding, nothing that should stop you from considering the Berserker by any means. Just make sure to close down your AFC on fill and give it a quick little wipe around the base. The addition of two tank options (2 or 4ml), with finish choices and 2 drip tips make this a really well rounded product offering. In the 2ml set up it is a really nice stealthily little atty. It’s a 24mm but looks pretty good on a blacked out mod with the black finish.
Flavour is where the Berserker goes a little crazy. There is a very nice intensity and the vapor is nice and condensed. All the nuances in your favourite juices will be elevated and very present. The Berserker also makes a great Salt Nic tank.
Airflow is tight as to be expected from a serious MTL tank. You have 5 AFC options ranging from 0.8-1.6mm and we like the largest of them. Even at 1.6mm it is still a nice smooth MTL. One major plus is just how quiet the AFC is, this tank is nearly silent, something we don’t see everyday.
Building is pretty much a no brainer, wrap a nice spaced coil, we used a 6 wrap, 26 awg, 2.5 ID, coming in at around 0.7 ohms and run it at around 20W for a nice warm vape that is great on battery life. The Kayfun style hooked lead traps and large screw heads trap your wire with ease. This would be a great starter tank for those of your looking to getting into rebuildable attys.
Wicking, wow. The design keeps your wicks really nicely saturated which leads to that great flavour. Setting the wicks is very easy too. Cut your wicks to just past the inner deck or before the outer tank section and place them into the wick slots/cups. That’s it, set them and forget them.
Juice Capacity is what you make it. 2 or 4ml options and depending on how high a nic you go with tanks can last a rather long time. We have nothing to fault here. We prefer the look of the 2ml tank for it’s more stealthy appearance, but it’s up to you.
Better to get to the party rather than not at all. Even after almost a year after its release the Vandy Vape Berserker MTL RTA still stacks up. Even better is the price! For all the you get and the performance at under $25 you really can’t go wrong. The materials, the fit and finish, the full kit, all feels much more expensive than what you pay. If you dig or can get past the aesthetic (it’s the grooves and writing on the top cap we don’t like too much) this is one tank you need to try. Damn good.
