UD/Youde is back! We aren’t sure what happened, but for awhile UD went off in some crazy directions with quite a few failed ideas/executions. We have always been a fan of UD, they used to be a major player back in the day. The new third version of the Goblin Mini is a welcomed return for the company and is a great little RTA.
Every version of the Goblin atty has had it’s quirks or challenges but this latest version seems to have shed these troubles. It’s small, well built/designed with many great features. Top fill, juice flow control, interchangeable single and dual coil decks, and the same compact yet functional AFC from the v2. A big difference is the addition of Velocity style posts on both decks, gone is the pain in the butt UD build deck. It looks very much like a v2 but it isn’t. The combination of the new build decks and juice flow make this behave like an entirely new atty. The aesthetic is somewhat clean, there are a bunch of tear dropped cutouts at the top and bottom that make it a little busy but function like knurling. It is a very compact little RTA that packs a ton of features in there.
Flavour is very good. Rich, dense clouds of yummy vapor are achievable with either deck. It took us a while to decide which we preferred, both have similar performance. For us though the dual deck seems to be the winner, it gives a slightly warmer vape and utilizes the airflow a bit better. The Single deck will allow for a larger coil that compensates quite a bit, but there is a very slight turbulence due to the fact it really only draws air from one side of the atty. It will come down to what you prefer, in the end both are good. The inner chamber has a smooth domed design which contributes to the flavour, the overall condensed height is also playing a big part.
The aperture style AFC is very accurate and will allow for a nice restricted lung hit fully open and can also be adjusted down to an MTL when closed down. This makes it very versatile and should make for a lot of happy vapers. We like it about 3/4 open, it helps intensify flavour while still give a nice lung hit draw. The little adjustment tabs do a pretty good job of giving you access but you may have trouble on some mods with large top decks around their 510s.
Building is easy and should be thanks to the velocity style posts. Switching out the decks is also very easy, pull out the 510 pin and swap away. The Goblin Mini v3 wicks very well and it’s easy to accomplish the right settings. Trim your wick leads to rest on top of the juice channels and you’re good to go. You may have to play with this if you are using the 4ml extension tube or are looking for a MTL vape. With a couple of nice Claptons in there with the wicks resting on top of the juice channels you get coils that are perfectly saturated and full of flavour. We like a Dual, 7 wrap, 2.5mm, 26/36 N80/KA1 Clapton, coming in at 0.4 Ohms run at 40-45W. It’s a warm luscious vape full of flavour.
The top fill functions rather well, the threading could be smoother but it works. It’s a bit of task, turn the atty counter clockwise to turn off the juice flow and then unscrew the top and fill up your 2ml of juice and then hold the tank while screwing it back together (if you don’t hold the tank the juice flow will open with the tightening motion of screwing back on the top cap, so be careful). It’s not too bad, but if you get lazy you may have some flooding or leaking. The fill ports are very large and will accommodate any kind of bottle you throw at it.
The included metal drip tip isn’t for us (gets hot), there is also a delrin tip/top cap that does a better job, but we prefer to use our own (JMK tips look great). One note, remove you drip tip before refilling, the drip tip is longer than the top cap and helps hold it in place, so if you don’t it adds a resistance making it harder to remove the top cap.
UD has done a great job getting back in the game. The Goblin Mini v3 is a great atty, buy it knowing you are about to get a great vape with little to no hassle. The looks are a little busy, but its very compact and has a great list of features that do their job well. All this said, it really is a very similar vape to the Wotofo Serpent Mini, so if you have one or are on the fence it’s a pretty even playing field, either one will be great. Welcome back UD!
Have one, agree with you about the look, little busy, but the performance is awesome, on par with the serpent mini that I also own, definitely will be in my permanent arsenal just like my serpent mini, love them both. Nice review btw
