SXK, known for their 1:1 quality clones is another company out of Asia starting to make their own authentic devices and attys. Their new Corolla RTA (mouth-to-lung) is quite good and getting popular, but somehow we all missed the Nebula Wine RTA. The shape of the Chimney is not only where it’s name is derived from, it’s the key to what makes this an incredible tank and with only a $13 price tag!
The Nebula Wine is very clean aesthetically, no branding, clean lines, and super simple. It’s deck and design is based on the Kayfun, but it’s chimney is pure magic. The smooth inverted wine glass stem design funnels all the tasty vapor and condenses it up a rather small diameter chimney stack. This produces outstanding flavour and dense vapor. To be honest, this is a much much better Monster v3 for a hell of a lot less money. The draw is a little more restricted than a Monster and has some similar turbulence issues with the airflow but it’s worth the little issues for how good it tastes and frankly looks.
Flavour is rich, warm, and awesome. We are so surprised by this atty and are even more surprised it’s not more popular. Smooth lines and domed or ramped vapor chambers always lead to better flavour, and the Wine has one of the most elegant chamber/chimneys we have seen to date. You will taste all the little nuances in your juices for sure.
Airflow is probably the only issue and it’s by no means a deal breaker. The inner air intake at the base of the 510 connection is smaller in diameter than the outer intakes, this creates a bit of a bottle neck that causes some air turbulence. It’s can be modified with a little drilling if you are willing to take on the job (watch this video if you are, sorry it’s in russian), but we really like the restiveness of the draw as it stands. Sure it’s a little noise (not bad at all), but with no AFC we would rather keep it where it is.
At first glance you would think wicking is going to be an issue, well it’s not, it wicks very well. Set your wicks to rest on the ledge of the deck just above the juice channels and forget it. We know, this has been promised by other subOhm Kayfun styled RTAs but not delivered (Monster V3), but the Wine does. The back pressure from this awesome chimney/chamber has to be the reason yet again. One note, don’t get greedy on your juice capacity, we found filling to about half way up the vapor chamber keeps everything flowing nicely (over fill and you may get some dry hits). Make sure there isn’t an ounce of cotton in the channels.
The Build is a super simple single coil. We worried at first, looking at the taper on the chimney and the size of the juice channels, could it handle 24awg? We went for it, a 4 wrap, spaced 3mm, 24awg, single coil coming in at 0.35-0.4 Ohms and run 35-42W. It’s a great vape, temperature is perfect, throw on your own drip tip, we hate stainless tips (they get hot and gunk up), with a nice wood, ultem or teflon (our fav) it’s perfect vape.
We have noticed the system (airflow, juice flow, & power) is very dialled in. We got about 3-4 tanks before we needed to change the wicks and dry burn it, it just wasn’t wicking the same, any decent build up on your coils throws the whole system out of balance.
Filling the tank is another minor issue, you need a fine tipped dripper, unicorn bottle, or syringe to get between the chamber and tank wall to fill it. But again the performance and ridiculously low cost makes it worth it.
If you’re still reading this and haven’t already left to pick one up, you should, it’s a no brainer at $13! The Nebula Wine is a great looking and performing tank, if you don’t dig the blue o-rings it also comes with a orange-red set. Even if you think you have the perfect line-up of attys at the moment give this one a try, you will be just as surprised as we are! This RTA has a chance at being the dark horse of the year, it’s way too underrated!
