This might just be the first RDTA to get it right! This is one Flavour monster that holds tons of juice and is super easy to build and gets consistently awesome results. And wow!, this baby can wick the juice!
Killer flavour, awesome performance, and easy to build, what more can one ask for? Not much really, maybe an AFC that is truly adjustable (you can block the holes a bit with the rubber outer ring). Not that it really needs it, the stock draw works just great. We just wonder if we could get even more flavour out of a more restricted draw. With 4 large airflow holes you have to wonder what more control could offer. When using the Velocity style 2 post build deck two of the holes are partially blocked by the posts anyway. This really is an truly revolutionary design that works flawlessly.
So what the hell is it and what makes it so good? Well it’s the first dripper deck with a tank sitting on top of it that works. Basically it is a dripper deck that sits raised above a juice well that has holes in the bottom to allow juice to flow under it to the wicks. It’s a simple build, like you would build any dripper but make sure to have the wicks just sit on the deck to allow for the optimal wicking. It’s a rather ingenious design, the tank has juice channels that flow to the surrounding juice well and provide ample juice below the build deck. 4 air holes hit your build from all directions but are isolated from the tank and juice flow that seem to make leaking an impossibility. It just performs, we have thrown every possible VG ratio at it and haven’t experience a single dry hit.
Building is a breeze as you would expect with a velocity deck. Make sure to align you coils between the top and bottom lead holes so they align perfectly with the air holes. We have found aligning two of the air holes with your coils gets you the best flavour, this is done by slightly unscrewing the top section from the base once it’s on your mod, don’t worry it’s not enough to cause any leaking. We haven’t even tried the 3 post deck and don’t understand why it is even offered and wish Steam Crave included the velocity as standard equipment (it is currently a $10 Upgrade or a $15 separate purchase). Wicking is a breeze, no crazy haircuts or special methods. We found cutting the wick ends between the inner and outer rings gives you the perfect length to get you wicks to barely sit on the bottom of the deck which is key. You don’t want to block the little holes that allow the juice to flow to the wicks. Our best build so far is a dual 24 ga, 2.5 mm, 0.3 Ohm run at 50-60W, it renders thick tasty vapor at a nice warm temp. Juice consumption seem good too, 2-2.5 tanks a day, so a bit more than dripping for a day (12-15ml).
Filling is very easily accomplished with a standard dripper, just place the end in the channel and fill away, it takes a bunch (6ml!). Having access to your build while the tank is full makes for easy checks and wick changes. We found wicks can last for 1-2 days depending on your juice. You can also purchase a smaller top cap to shorten the tank and get a 3ml juice capacity for those of you that want a stealthier vape, but having all that juice capacity in a tank that is a pretty standard size why would you (you can also order it as a 3ml tank if you wish, SC200-S)?
Flavour is as good as a dripper! It truly is, no BS. The design is the first that isn’t a pain to fill or wick and the flavour is just so rich. The deck is directly connected to the 510 so she hits hard. We have found that even when the coils are gunked up they still taste good, so you might be in for a surprise when you fill your next tank.
Airflow is airy, slightly restricted, maybe even a little wider than you will be used to (flavourchasers), but it delivers the flavour and with a decent amount of vapor to boot! The rubber ring it comes with (and there are more colours you can order) doesn’t do much for us and we run ours without it. It could be used to slight restrict all 4 air holes by turning it slightly but we would love more control over which of the 4 holes are open. An AFC system would be a nice to have.
This is one Atty to beat! Killer Flavour that is easy to get and a tank that lasts almost half a day all at an affordable price. Sure you could get a Clearo for less but then there is the cost of coils and the lack of control over your build or changing your wicks. Then there are RTAs that can perform well but don’t have flavour like this. Getting the flavour of a dripper with a huge tank on top is where it’s at! And this is the one to own currently. RDTAs finally look like they are coming into their own. We would like to thank Steam Crave for sending us their full line of products and we’ll be reviewing the Clearo version of this design and their second version of the Aromamizer RDA very soon. But for now you can find us vaping this baby day and night. Don’t even think twice, get yourself one immediately!
Update: So we finally got around to trying a vertical build. We aren’t usually fans of vertical coils as we feel the wicks foul faster but we have to agree with RiP Trippers it does open up more and different flavour potential in this atty. A 24ga, 3mm, 7 wrap, Dual Micro Coil build coming in at 0.3 Ohms run at 45-50W (47 is our sweet spot) is pretty damn awesome! Check out RiP’s new build tutorial (we found with a good pair of curve nosed tweezers you can wick your coils without removal).
I found the same sweet spot 24g 7 wrap around 3mm, 40-50w. It’s beautiful! Comes standard now with the Velocity deck, I think. I got 3, first one from fasttech for like $45, MISTAKE. I wanted a couple more, so I dug a little deeper for US distributors, and vapenw.com has them for around $25. Now they are all I use. I simply LOVE my Aromamizers.
