Asmodus has teamed up with Sigelei to make the SnowWolf 200W Temperature Sensing MOD and what a beauty it is! Right from the start the aesthetics is what grabs you first, it’s super clean, all Stainless and Glass (you don’t want to drop this one). Then you notice the screen size and location, nice & bright, big, and in a great spot (however if you like to fire with your thumb you will wish they put the screen on the other side of the MOD). Even the branding isn’t too bad, a subtle laser etching on the side. We also really dig the subtle left to right reveal animation on the screen as it wakes up from sleep mode, it’s an awesome little detail!
The user-interface on this one is the simplest we have ever seen and it’s a bit of a treat after dealing with the complexity of the SX-Mini M-Class. There really is only two options, Change the Temperature or the Wattage, that’s it. All you do is press the Up and Down together to toggle between the two settings. Sounds crazy, you think you would need more, but you don’t. There has been talk of not being able to get even number settings because when you toggle between settings it always adds an increment to which ever you were in first. Well there is a fix, just set it down one increment from what you want before switching, works every time. Wattage is set in 0.1 increments up to 50W then 0.5 increments up to 100W and then 1.0 increments from there. The increment scroll is one of the most responsive and quick we have ever seen. The Stainless buttons have a solid rewarding click and not an ounce of rattle.
If you are wondering how you switch between regular and temp modes it auto senses the coil type and switches for you (it will ask if you have a new coil similar to a DNA40 when switching out coils or attys). We have noticed that sometimes for a second it stays in one of the modes, don’t worry, take a haul or two (can take up to 4 hauls) and it does switch (just not immediately on first fire), just watch your wattage till it does. You will know if you are in regular mode if the temperature disappears when hitting the fire button. It really is an intuitive system.
The Battery door is easy to open and held very secure by its magnets (it will wiggle slightly if you push it, but not on its own, better than most). Be careful how and where you place the door when changing batteries, we made the mistake of placing the door face down on a counter and then dragging it along the surface when putting it back on, we scuffed (very minor, but there) the stainless edge around the glass. It’s glass and stainless you need to treat this mod more like a cell phone if you want to keep it looking dope. Which brings us to the next point and really the only con, for us OCD types that like our MOD looking awesome at all times, while the glass seems pretty durable it is a friggin finger print magnet. You may want to carry a shammy if you really want to keep it clean (you can try holding it just by the stainless, but we like to grab our mods). Speaking of which, this has a very solid hand feel, about the size of a Hammond G box (hexohm), and weighing on par with a SX-Mini M-Class. So it’s not the lightest mod.
This puppy hits nice and hard, seems to be very accurate. There is no delay on firing and fires every time. There are some sleep features, it auto locks after 30 mins, but it’s not that bad to click 5 times after it has sat for awhile and the peace of mind is worth it (kids, auto firing, etc…). It turns on immediately, but is locked, it’s fast which helps cause you are basically turning it off to lock it when you need to. If you are looking for a mod to fire over 150W steady this might not be for you, it is definitely a sold DC fire up to 150 but after that if moves to Pulse Width which for us is not ideal for flavour. One of the most compelling pros is this baby fires up to 70W in Temperature Mode, currently the highest on the market!
Temperature Mode on this MOD has to be one of the simplest on the market! Build your coil, throw it in an atty, screw it on, and go! No more dealing with layers of User-Interface and locking or checking resistance. This is really the first promising experience we have had with Temperature Control, Sigelei took their time coming to market and it seems to have paid off! It’s a silk smooth fire, works perfectly, and wow the warmest Temp Control vape to date (when set 60W+). We built a dual 0.08 Ohm build with Nickel 200 on a Tugboat v2 and it fired great. Guessing the 0.05 Ohm stable fire spec also includes temp coils. We haven’t had a ton of temp experience with this MOD yet but so far seems to be the best device we have played with! Now if only we can get the flavour to be as good as a regular build (getting proper airflow on those long ass nickel coils in an RDA is a bitch).
If you can get over or just don’t care about the finger prints all over this thing (we have, VaporSkinz also just released a couple skins for the SnowWolf), this is one of the nicest built and dopest looking MODs on the market and it performs awesome! For $175 come on, there are so many more expensive mods that don’t offer anything that this one doesn’t have, and in our opinion don’t look as good or do anything better. Buy one!
We are very curious if this great, awesomely simple chip makes it into the new Sigelei 75W Temperature MOD. Based on the photos out there of the screen, it looks like it will! Now if it will also fire 70W in Temperature Mode then they may have a real winner at $80! We will have one for review shortly.
