Yihi SX Mini – M Class

The SX Mini – M Class is currently the best Variable Wattage/Volatage MOD on the market. It’s hands down better than all the rest. It feels awesome in the hand, has tons of features, and a build quality that gives it a swagger like no other. The first SX Mini – S Class had many of the same qualities minus the new temperature control settings of the M, so if you are not that interested in temp control than there are deals to be had on used S Classes (remember they are only 2-3 months old currently). There are some nicer qualities to the rounded edges that improve hand feel, and some improvements to the user interface however that may sway you to the M.

Sigelei 75W Temp Control Box Mod

This Sigelei Mod should create a lot of buzz! The company is finally entering the temperature sensing game, and with a box that looks to offer promising design, features, size and price. Looks like it will be somewhere between the size of a VaporShark rDNA and the Yihi SX Mini. Features a magnetic battery door which looks to offer quicker access than the competition. The current specs also give it a Power(75W, not sure if you will get all of it in Temp Mode) and Temperature(212-662F, giving to a wider range, top and bottom) advantage. Now all that’s left is to see if the temp sensing will deliver? At the price it’s worth the gamble! We will be reviewing this Mod as soon as we get our hands on one.

Buzz: Lotus LE80 MOD

Well this has some potential! Think of it as a HexOhm for less than half the price. It has a couple more features too (screen, shows volts of battery and volts to the atty, battery rundown protection, and a switch to flip screen modes or turn off the mod). You will either love the industrial aesthetic or hate it. It has a bit of a crude look to it, but at $70 USD what a deal and if it hits hard even better. Looks like Lotus has learned from their Jellyfish mistakes and carved out a nice little piece of the MOD market. We dig these analogue controlled regulated MODs, they have a much more tactile experience. Firing down to 0.2 Ohms (0.1 lower than the HexOhm) and rated to 80 Watts (Should be able to go higher with a 0.2 Ohm at 6 Volts that would be 180 Watts, have to wait and see what the chip can handle, guessing 110-120 safely). We look forward to getting our hands on one of these!

MODs, and an introduction to what you need to know

So you’ve had your fun with a starter kit and now you want more! Well there are tons of options, mech mods, variable voltage/wattage (vv/vw) devices, box mods, more powerful ego battery style, the list goes on and what the hell should you get first. The options can be overwhelming and part of this leap will be in most cases also a foray into more powerful batteries too. Some vv/vw devices have internal batteries and ego battery devices do too, but for the rest, welcome to the world of 18350s and 18650s batteries. Make sure to buy the best batteries you can and a good charger that is as safe as possible. Don’t get scared about batteries, just respect them and maintain them right and you will be fine.

Craving Vapor HexOhm v2

The HexOhm v2 is a regulated Box MOD, it has a chip to help regulate/offer variable power settings. It has the look of a mean & clean mechanical box mod while offering some safety and protection. It hits hard, has up to 110Watts of power (more than you need) and 3.3-6Volts that you dial in with a little nob (almost hidden, which is awesome) on the side. It’s light and has a strong textured finish, and the button, oh the button! The button has a great location, very clicky, and needs enough pressure that it won’t fire in your pocket. You don’t realize how nice a great button is till you have one, it’s the most used feature on you MOD. There is no screen on this one, which is the trade off for the clean look, so you adjust each atomizer/coil to taste (start low on the dial and work up till you think it might be too dry/hot and then lower a little) which is not a big deal. The build quality and internal wiring are top notch. If you are interested in getting into the higher end more bespoke end of vaping, then the HexOhm v2 is a good place to start.
