The trend of small RTAs continues and Wotofo has really stepped up their game! Not only is the Serpent Mini pretty dope looking, it performs incredibly well and at a really affordable price.
This is a whole new Wotofo! The Serpent Mini is a super clean, extremely well built and designed atty. There really isn’t anything wrong with it. It performs incredibly well and is super consistent and easy to use. If Wotofo can keep making products this good, they will lead the pack in very short order. Read the whole review if you like, or just go buy it right now!
Flavour is awesome, thanks to how compact the design is. It’s full and you can dial it in with less airflow or open it up for more vapor, it has pretty good vapor production but is definitely a flavourchasing atty.
Airflow is silky smooth, the AFC performs very well, giving you a slightly restricted full lung hit or you can take it down to a MTL. There is a stop on the AFC ring that helps for shutting it down when filling and the full range of airflow can be adjusted within a quarter turn. The o-ring resistance is prefect, keeps its setting every time.
Wicking is a highlight, it does an outstanding job. The wattage range on a build is rather impressive, we have easily had a range of 20W+ on our builds. Scottish Roll wicking method seem to do best and setting them is really easy. Just trim you wicks to just touch the bottom of the juice channel and make sure they aren’t to thick to jam the chimney barrel. Some of the easiest and most consistent wicking we have ever experienced.
Building is also ridiculously easy. Great clamp style posts, easy positioning, and can fit 3mm+ coils no problem. All you have to do is wind you coil counter-clockwise to align properly with the posts (you want your leads coming for under the coil). Wotofo has included a couple 0.8 Ohm twisted 26 awg coils, nice but we find that the Mini performs best between 0.3-0.7 Ohms so you might want to skip them and build your own right out of the gate. We are big fans recently of 25awg wire, gives you the easy of 26awg with more of the warmth of 24awg. Our favourite build at the moment is a 5-6 wrap, 3mm, 25awg, spaced coil coming in at 0.6-0.7 Ohms and run anywhere for 25-40W (crazy right!). It can be as warm and flavourful as we like, can be MTL or full open. The Mini is just so versatile.
The top fill is awesome, it works, it never leaks, and the top cap comes off with easy (nice smooth threads). Sure it’s a 2ml tank, but that’s good for the UK and it’s so easy and quick to fill that it doesn’t bother you. The fill ports are huge, fill the tank with any kind of bottle (just shut down the AFC to be safe). One tiny nit pick, the glass section is held on securely, but only by an o-ring, so access to your build deck with a full tank could get messy if the glass unseated. But it’s only 2ml, you can vape a full tank quickly if you need to, so not really a deal breaker.
The Wotofo Serpent Mini is a stellar atty. It’s affordable, looks great, and performs extremely well. This is a must own tank, you need to experience this atty for yourself. It’s sure to become a long time favourite and stay in your rotation for quite some time. The aesthetic is clean and the fit and finish is good enough to make this atty look good on just about any mod. Buy it!
Wow p, you guys really love this device. Your glowing review just sealed the deal for me, I’ve gotta get one now. So far out of all the rta’s I’ve owned (around 40, not including rda’s or even sub tanks, just straight up rta’s) my all time favorite has been the moonshot even with that fucking stupid build deck that doesn’t stay put, thus making building a totally unnecessary pain in the ass, but anyway I’m going off topic a bit lol
My question is, how does the serpent mini stack up against the moonshot in flavor (most importantly), vapour, overall vapre experience, building, build quality, design, and overall user experience?
Thanks so much, I’d truly appreciate your thoughts on this matter, sincerely your over-enthusiastic fan: David = ]
Hi Guys,
You mention Scottish Roll here – I searched and it seems the only post where it appears.
Do you guys always use scottish roll? and does that go for Cotton Bacon type cotton also, which i tend to use?
Any chance you guys could do a post just on wicking – plenty of info out there, but plenty of it contradictory – and you guys seem to really try stuff out to see what really adds value to a build / flavour.
Hey Nick,
We are big fans of Cotton Bacon and use it most of the time. We gave the Scottish Roll technique a shot in the Serpent Mini and had some great success, that is not to say it works just as well with Cotton Bacon. Really any cotton works well if fluffed right and wicked properly for each atty.
You have got us thinking, maybe it is time to do a post on cotton, the types, techniques, and general know how… We’ll add it to the list.
Hope you are digging the Mini, and enjoying a good vape.
Vape on!
Yo!
I bought this the other day after reading your review. Its a really nice little rta, nice construction and easy to build on….
was wondering if you could offer some further suggestions on build. no matter what i try i cant get satisfactory flavor out of it. I havent been able to buy any 25awg yet as per your recommendation, but ive tried just about everything else (24,26,28, twisted, clapton) and nothing has been that great.
Would love to nail the flavour on this cause its a cool little contraption.
Thanks
David
Hey David,
Lately we have been finding a nice Clapton, 4-5 wrap, 2.5-3mm, at 0.4-0.6 Ohms run at 30-40W should do the trick. The serpent is still a go to atty for us, it’s just so small and so reliable. Make sure you have your wicks set right too, try cotton pads, it makes it easier to get the right amount of cotton in the channels (make sure they aren’t over stuffed and that you leads aren’t touching the bottom of the channel). Good luck, we hope you find the flavour!
sweet, ill give the claptons another go and try different cotton a go. what guage clapton do you use?
thanks heaps for the reply!!!!
High gage is better, 28/38 or 26/36, find something that doesn’t need a ton of power and won’t ohm out too low. Aim for 0.4-0.6 with a 4-6 wrap (2.5 or 3mm ID).
Legends! Thankyou!!!!!!
Been messing with this for a couple weeks, getting best performance cutting the cotton at deck height, putting half on the deck and half above the wells. With max vg juices I need to crack the fill cap while vaping to get it to bubble, might hog out the wells bigger if I get my hands on a second build deck, but wouldn’t risk this one, I take it everywhere and it has never leaked at all. Any less invasive ideas to get it to wick more juice would be appreciated. Really nice dense, warm, and sweetest taste, 9/10 for simple juices, but for complex flavours I would give it a 5/10, they are hardly there in any of my builds (.3-1.2 ohm, 2.5-3.5 coil, 30-45W, spaced, twisted, single claptons, fused claptons with twisted cores…)
Hey Neil,
Glad you dig the atty. All we can suggest is keep all your wicking sitting on top of the juice channels, we don’t have any issues with wicking set that way. Another option is to brush out (thin out) your wick leads, that might help you too. Best build is a single fused Clapton at 0.3-0.7 Ohms, 2.5 mm ID. Good luck and Vape on!
Thanks! Love the setup of this website to btw. Toned down my builds a bit (was getting only 20 draws per tank at one point, oops). Went back to 2.5 and changed little things at a time, realized that if the cotton doesn’t come down to the bottom of the chimney threads it can create a little air pocket in the empty juice well, and wicking stops, so cutting to deck height is no good. Thinned the wicks a bit and the other change was raising the coil (air flow passing by more of the wicks?) and that improved flavours. Darn near perfect now, thanks again.
Right i just try it. Best build in fused clapton.

Hi FlavourChasers,
You’re my new place for reviews now. Thanks.
Question : is there any suggestions for crackling/popping/spitback? I’m having 5/6 wrap, 3mm, KA1, 0.7ohm, around 16-20w, but some crackling/popping/spitback. It just ruins the experience.
Any suggestions? TIA.
Hey Kevin,
Sounds like you need to try a bit more cotton through your coil. Give that a go.
Did you get the chance to try the 25mm version ?
I wonder how much the flavour is muted compared to the 22.
I do not own any yet, and more capacity is something I appreciate, but how much is the flavour impacted is the big question…
Hey Ludovitche,
We will see what we can do, but to be honest a 25 doesn’t interest us and the flavour has a good chance of being muted or different.
Bought today this atty, well… Great review on a great tank! Big thank you guys for this review, cause it was the reason for me sitting right now and saying OMG what a flavour… I compare this tank to my first and only SMOK TFV8 Cloud Beast Tank, and if i would say it in numbers i give the cloud beast 3 points flavour and the serpent is 10! Now i know that i’m definitely a flavour chaser 😀 If you’re a flavour chaser too, then buy it no doubt!
Happy to hear you love the serpent too!
Hi FlavourChasers Team!
Great review! I have bought Serpent Mini after reading this review and… WOW! Standard SS316L 24AWG wire, 5 wraps spaced coil coming in at 0.33Ohms. Vape it at 43W. Not too warm, not too cold vape and flavour is just amazing! Thank you for recommending this atty. I also ordered Hadaly RDA and Odis Atty (SXK clones from fasttech) and can’t wait to have it on my desk. Thanks again!
Keep on doing good (very good) job guys!
Hey GAMbeat,
Happy to hear you love the serpent mini. Sounds like you have some more great attys coming. Vape on! And thanks for the kind words 🙂
