The Izi is one unique looking tank. It’s small, very compact and has some interesting ideas on just how small a vapor chamber can get. It’s really a MTL tank but it will give a pretty decent, although rather restricted lung hit. So how does this design deliver on flavour?
Where ever we see a new tank on reducing the vapor chamber it peeks our interest. The way that Boost Lab’s has done it is rather unique and innovative. Think of it like a hockey puck has been hollowed out just enough to fit your build deck posts and coil. The Izi has to take the prize for the smallest vapour chamber around, it really is super tiny in there. And this of course leads to some pretty great flavour.
The Airflow is also unique, rather than it being directed through your coil perpendicularly like most attys it travels across your coil and first travels through your wick leads. You would think this would hinder flavour but it doesn’t, an may even contribute to a slightly denser moist vape. The AFC design work in combination with the chamber reducer, there are two sets of holes (1mm or 1.3mm) that can be left open to give you either dual or quad airflow. To switch between airflow settings you simply align your reducer with the coil with the selected size. Here’s where the only two cons come into play for the Izi, first the AFC sits on this hockey puck (reducer) and condensation builds to the point that will have some leaking/sweating out the seam of the top cap at some point (cleaning the top cap regularly helps keep things under control), and secondly the puck needs to be secured over the build deck with 2 screws, so you need to remove this to check out your build health and to change out your wicks and will need access to a micro screwdriver to do it. But really both these cons aren’t deal breakers, the Izi performs very well and is worth the hassle.
Building is pretty easy when it comes to setting your coil, and gets a little fidgety to wick. This is another Genesis inspired design, so your wicks need to hang down into the tank and the usual Genie Tilt (vaping the tank at 45°+) comes into action to keep things wicking well (half way to the bottom of the tank is more than enough wick). It’s not a crazy build but it takes some patience and some experience. Our favourite build is a 7 wrap, 26awg, 2.5mm, spaced coil coming in at 0.7 Ohms and run 18-22W. Its a nice almost warm vape that has plenty of flavour while being easy on your juice and battery life.
The 3ml juice capacity is impressive for the size of this little tank, and even better is the fact the Izi goes easy on juice. A full tank can last you an afternoon of easy going vaping. The fill process is super easy, there are 2 fill ports on the top of the reducer that run down to the tank and take almost any regular dropper. We were surprised at how well it works, no leaking or mess for the most part (you need to be gentle, but it is a quick process).
The Izi is a great MTL tank that bridges the gap enough to allow for even a decent lung hit, which makes this a great option for anyone who is curious about MTLing but might still need a bigger hit once in a while. Other than the occasional condensation mess when removing the top cap (have some vape towel on standby every time), we love it. The Authentic isn’t crazy on the budget and is pretty accessible, so if you dig the clone try and grab an original. Savoury and Tobacco profiles shine like mad in this one.
We want to also give a shout out to Michael at 3FVape for helping us out with a replacement when our first shipment was damaged. Great, friendly, fast customer service is alway nice to have and 3FVape was super classy about the whole thing.
