This is a historic day! This is our very first Rave Review for an atty! We have been searching far and wide for the best attys that give the best flavour and we are very happy to announce we have found one like no other! The Vaponaute Le Magister RDA. The design is very unique, the builds last and stay clean a long time, and the flavour is out of this world!
The flavour is so clean, the perfect temperature, and vapor density. It’s not the easiest build but by no means the worst we have had to deal with. Vaponaute has designed a work of art in this atty, they have also created a build video to help you get it right the first time. We really love when atty designers and manufactures help take the guess work out of things and give you the specs for the perfect/optimal build.
The Deck is similar to both the SOV Zenith and the Norbert Origen v3, it has a thumbscrew center post and two negative screws flush with the deck. But there is one huge difference, the whole deck is elevated over the juice well on a disc with to slots for your wick/s to be secured and hung down into the juice well for wicking. Building is rather easy, just take your time and being a strict flavour atty don’t try to build with anything thicker than 26ga wire. Vaponaute suggests a 2mm 4-5 wrap coil with spaced coils and with the results you get don’t even bother trying something else! We have always played with tight closed coils but there is something to these more open or spaced coils, they don’t gunk up as quick and holy crap the flavour in this atty will have you re-guessing everything you have learned about building to date! The build on a single will come in around 0.5 Ohms and the dual around 0.25 Ohms. We build duals at 5 wraps and run it around 40-45W coming in at nothing higher than 3.5V. The Temp is warm not hot, really almost on the cool side which is surprising for how small the vapor chamber is.
Airflow is restrictive, remember this is a true Flavourchaser, you can mouth-to-lung just fine. Think of it as more of a sipping atty. But the Vapor production will surprise you again for its size, it’s decent. We like the AFC wide open on both sides, you can try more restricted if you like but we are happy the way we are running it.
Filling this atty is a dream, the center ring and top cap come off together perfectly and you drip right on top of the thumbscrew and the juice flows down into the well. There is pure genius here, every time you fill your well you are flushing your wicks and coils which keeps things looking and tasting fresh. Your wicking will last way longer because of this which is such a joy. The well may not seem large(2.5ml) but it lasts a long time, easily 20+ pulls. Wicking can sometimes need to catch up if you chain vape too much, we don’t see this as a con as again it’s more of a sipping flavour atty. Just chill and savour the flavour!
This is the first time we truly feel embarrassed to be vaping on a clone. Magister is from the Latin word for Master or Teacher and this atty is truly the Master of Flavour and will teach you what truly Amazing Vaping can be. The Authentic isn’t cheap, 120 Euros and it’s pretty much sold out world wide currently so maybe we shouldn’t feel too bad. But honestly if you can afford the cash, skip the clone and get the authentic asap! We are keeping our eyes peeled for one of our own. It’s been a long journey to find flavour like this and we are so happy to share what we have finally found. Not to say the journey is over, but it’s nice to finally have an ultimate atty in our collection, it’s going to be hard to top this one!
Update:
We got our hands on an Authentic! It wasn’t cheap and we got a little screwed, it was missing the top thumbscrew. Thankfully the clone screw fits! The build quality is absolutely superb! The brushed finish is beautiful. This is a must buy atty! As with all authentics it’s just finished so much better and when you love an atty design, buy the authentic to honour the designer! Hopefully Vaponaute with release a second run soon to make it easier to get your hands on one.
Try the clone, if you love it, buy the authentic.
Hey Ryan.. awesome that you were able to score an authentic of this one! (which is why I’m personally grateful, esp when they don’t use identical name or logo, replicas exist! Had they not, pretty much everything I’ve vaped, I’d have never been able to experience. 4+ yrs of vaping now & regardless of $$, most anything desirable, just… isn’t… made… available to the everyday vaper imho! Time after time, small run… on this date… (all the while known people magically had & were posting pics of them on IG, mind you) oops, already gone/sold out; apparently to those in some ‘group’. A group that you can’t join unless you a) know what/where, & b) were invited AND verified/recommended by yet another. ugh…. see my struggle? lol Worse tho imho, is after inquiring, after searching, waiting, watching pic after pic… After sold out, no mas… Seeing someone be handed, sent or gifted one… Or with a phone call, obtain one. All tho, usually free even. grrrr) THAT SAID (yeesh, quite the rant, sorry) some of these “clones” as much as I hate calling them that, are the only thing that made ’em available/attainable for purchase… & the ONLY way I’ve been able to ever experience the vape from most of these highly desired mods/atties. (the whole “M atty”.. watching a vid of sx_drifter, I believe… getting his THIRD in a couple months… phew, just sticks me the wrong way. LOL Have never been a jealous/envious person, but w/ all the vids, idk.. it’s like how many times can something be shoved in your face? =p) With this one, you mentioned wicking… changing… liking the fill/refill method as it keeps those wicks fresh.. less need to change, etc. Well, if you haven’t yet, highly suggest trying a 3-5mm piece of “ReadyXwick” from RBAsupplies.com They have a site… a couple YouTube vids that’ll make you go, =o whaaaat? & pBusardo did a “wicking comparison” about a yr ago maybe… bunch of cottons, etc.. ReadyX won. Put it this way, wicks as well as cotton, if not better… not much of any break in… can be dry burned right back to brand spanking new, even IF covered in motor oil.. AND, I rotate through many different setups throughout the day, but the Marquis I vape a few times a day, at least… has had the SAME SMALL PIECE of wick through its coil now for ohhhh, prob well over 6..7.. months now. Yep, months. Vapes as great as she did day 1. In fact, I’ll prob have to change the COIL before the wicking! lol I use Japanese Cotton on most other things, but that stuff continues to BLOW me away………….. so just figured I’d share the info in case you hadn’t tried it yet. =) Wishing you & yours a 2016… that tops ’em all! Live long(ER) & vape on!
Hey Amanda,
Happy 2016 to you too!
I feel your pain, just this night I tried to secure a NarDA and wasn’t successful. So tired of the best vape gear being so unattainable or unaccessible. If there is ever any groups you want to get an invite to let me know and I would be glad to do what I can (not that being in the group does much either).
Thanks you for the ReadyXwich suggestion! Always looking for new and better ways to vape. I will be sure to check it out asap!
Thank you so much for following Flavourchasers!
Ryan.
Hey,
Tried the recommended build on the le magister, found that after 3-4 hits I’m getting dry hits and needs to be re-dripped. I found that a vertical coil right over the notch accessing the well and tilting the vape 90 degrees is the best way to overcome gravity and get enough wicking. Any tips or hints on what I’m doing wrong here?
Brian
Hey Brian. Make sure you are using 26 or 28awg wire and that it’s a spaced or open coil. 2mm coils do the best job and make sure you don’t over wick and choke the wicking slots on the deck. You want your wick tails to just hit the lower deck. It’s most likely that you over wicked. Watch the build video from Vaponaute linked in the review, it should help you out. It’s still one of our favourite attys hands down. If you are still having trouble reach out with a pic of your build. Good luck man!
Hey Ryan,
Thanks for the quick reply. Been trying the recommended build that you linked to, but having some issues. I use 28ga SS wire (I like temp control). 7-ish wraps gave me a resistance of 0.63ohms. ~6cm of wick (cotton bacon) as recommended and wrapped everything their way. Running at 32W.
After 3 hits or so I’m getting a dry, I would have though the wicking would be able to keep up with that! I’m not even taking huge inhales either!
If you want to check out the build I just did, please by all means critique! I want to like this atty so much, when it does work it’s great! If only I can get a few more hits off it…

Thanks!

Nice looking build Brian!
I think I see the problem 🙂 The wick lead closest to the wicking channel needs to go down to the lower deck. From you pic it looks like you wrapped the left wick lead around the center post and down the channel, this is too far for the juice to travel which is causing your trouble. Try putting the right wick lead down and wrap the left just around the center post and have it just touch the top of the wicking channel and right wick lead or down the wicking channel on the other side of the deck. You are almost there bro! Also we usually dual coil on this atty.
Hey Thanks!
Ok so you are suggesting either both sides of the wick into one channel like so:

or wrap the opposite way:

Correct?
I appreciate this very much!
Hey man, the opposite way looks good (second pic). You can also not wrap the left lead around the center post and just have it go straight to the wick channel. Either way this should do a much better job at wicking. 🙂
Ryan,
Changing the wicking definitely helped. I also found that lowering the wattage to 25 or so prevented dry hits too. I found that after a hit if I lay it down for a couple of seconds, then the wicking has time to catch up. Consecutive hits tends to dry it out really fast. Does this sound like where it should be? I don’t know if there is more tinkering that I should be doing. Thanks so much!
Brian
It could be your pulling to hard on the atty. It’s a flavour atty with a rather restrictive draw, we like to chain vape too but have noticed you need to be a little less aggressive with how you pull on some flavour atties. Might be the case for you too.
