This is one atty we were excited to get our hands on. It might be that it’s a local Canadian Company or the fact that this might be the first atty that could dethrone the NarDA. Either way the O-Atty by The Odis Collection is one kick ass dripper that every vaper should get their hands on…
It’s all clean lines on the outside with a signature tear-dropped AFC. Nice hard lines and all made with top grade stainless steel. The Machining is perfect, everything about how this atty feels and performs oozes quality. The O-ring tolerances are nailed, the engraved bottom is a work of art, and the second you see the build deck you know you’ve got something special. Sure it looks surprisingly familiar, dual airflow hitting a center section that can house either a single or dual coil setup. NarDA may have been the first but there have been others since that have realized that maximizing the amount of airflow to a coil produces incredible flavour and vapor. The O-Atty differs in the angle in which the airflow enters the vapor chamber. The airflow inlets are angled down at about a 30° angle and hit the floor of the deck creating a vortex effect that swirls the yummy vapours around in the chamber before entering your mouth. This not only produces great flavour and vapor, it also does it silently with not an ounce of spit back (something the NarDA can’t do on either front).
Okay, so Flavour… Intense, thick and condensed. The math all adds up, the right amount of space, airflow and smooth lines all contribute to just down right awesome flavour. But the flavour isn’t alone on this one, it’s full immersed in a silky smooth airflow that helps create an extremely gratifying vape. You can feel the airflow churning around inside, their isn’t an ounce of turbulence, it’s more of a pressure, that is condensing the vapor into thick tasty clouds. The AFC does it’s job, fully open it’s a barely restricted lung hit, but close it down to a sliver of that teardrop and it almost gets to MTL territory. The best part, it’s silent, no whistling of any kind no matter how you set it. We play around a lot with the settings, closed down it’s super intense flavour, open it’s more vapor but still damn tasty. The AFC is surprisingly accurate for how simple it looks. It makes us think of what it would feel like to vape a Dyson vacuum, there’s lots of science and engineering going on inside this baby.
The Deck is angular, somewhat aggressive looking, the gold platted clamps look beautiful. The AFC towers are sharp, but are obviously designed to maximize the inner airflow resistance and circulation. There is plenty of room for coils, we have tried several builds and everything fits well. The clamps secure your wire leads very well, however they are finicky to work with. If only Odis had beveled the clamp plate edges like they are on the Goon. They are super flat and the tolerance is so dialled in that getting your wire into the clamps can be a trying exercise, if they were beveled, the wire would slide right in. We did have some trouble with the threading on one of our clamps, it’s getting smoother with use and is most likely just a shoty screw (it comes with spares so no big deal).
So what to build… We tried simple single coils, spaced and micro, duals, and a couple different claptons. And in the end, like you will see all over Facebook and Instagram, a simple 2.5-3mm fused clapton at anywhere from 0.5-0.8 Ohms is the winner. We get that claptons hold lots of juice and therefore can produce great flavour, but on most applications we find them hot, with ramp up, and spit back. We just don’t like them in general. However, and this is a big one, claptons are amazing in this atty. No spit back, no unwanted heat, just glorious flavour/vapor. It has to be the internal design and airflow, it seems to create a back pressure that tames these crazy coils. Our current build is a 28/36 KA1, 2.5mm, 0.7 Ohm, fused clapton and we run it at 33-35W and it’s friggin awesome. Not to hot, not to cold, tons of vapor, just right.
There is plenty of accessories planned, caps (slammed, delrin, ultem, etc…), a BF pin, and a variety of Drip Tips (to be expected from Odis). It comes with a nice amount of spares, ours had the BF pin and a second lower profile ultem drip tip and we suggest you pick up the same.
The O-Atty is an OMG atty. It’s incredible in every way, great build quality, design, and flavour. It also helps that Fadi and the whole Odis team are just great people. It’s a tad expensive, but the performance is really worth the cost, there is something different about the O, its the airflow in our opinion. There are a couple of objective cons, it’s not the easiest to build, and the 510 is pretty long, we noticed it doesn’t sit flush on quite a few of our mods (a nice Machi ring would fix things up). But once you taste and experience an O-Atty we are pretty sure you won’t be able to put it down. If you can grab one, do it now without an ounce of doubt. Well done Odis Team!
… Hum attractive rda.
By the way did you guys have tried the DDP rda from Malaysia?
There is not much talking about it.
As always thanks for your reviews wich are among the very best.
Hey Raphael,
We too have heard good things about the DDP Typhon. If we get our hands on one will check it out for review. It’s a much different setup from the O-Atty however. You should check out the O if you can, it’s stellar.
Hi Ryan,
Yeah, at the beginning I did not know wich one to choose… The price was my comparaison. I did enjoy the Typhon, but only at the beginning. I got a Narda soon after and this is just amazing, except the sound of it, man! You gotta be gentle with the draw or you could wake up the neighborgs. And since the Narda I do not want dual coils anymore, I am happy with that. Hère is my problem: I like to try new stuff but since that Narda , again, I can not have fun with neither my kayfun neither Boost Lab products. I would like a Narda drip tank?
Am I normal guys?
Tell me
Have à good one
Raphael
P.S: sorry for the text; my phone and me are more uses to text french.
2nd P.S: I found the Narda to be the absolutly easiest deck to build on, yes. It just stays! I still do not have an O-atty but it is for his 30o angles, not for his deck, that I would like to buy one.
And again, God only knows, I would like to grab a DDP One…
Help please
As for the DDP One, there is the authentic and also a clone now available.
Hey Raphael,
You sound pretty normal to us. You conclusions are pretty spot on.
Hi. I have an issue o this rda’s
I’ve experience mute flavor. I think it about the coils height. Running 24awg 6 wrap .25 id. Help me please
Hey Zaffi,
The O really shines with a Clapton coil. You need to make sure the airflow hits from under the coil. It’s most likely the coil type and position giving you trouble. Also try a 3mm ID.
Tq so much..love to try. I need to play with this Atty with different build. Now still love my narda. Huhuhu
Just waiting for my O Atty to arrive in the mail. In my opinion the NarDa is beyond compare when it’s comes to flavor so I’m anxiously awaiting for the O Atty to match up the 2 and see how they stack up.
Great write-up as always guys and thanks for detail on your preferred wire. Just to check, are you using 2 strands of 28 fused with 36? Also, any thoughts on wrapping 28 KA1 with 36 N80. What do you suppose the difference might be? Also, just on claptons (fused or otherwise) do you have a “rule of thumb” as to the size relationship between the inner gauge and outer gauge?
Clearly I have had to order one after that write-up. Apart from the great vape, i suspect this could turn into one of those mega-hyped impossible-to-get attys that can be sold for millions…! (should have bought two now i come to think of it!)
Shame it has to come all the way from Canada! (UK pre-orders sold out already) … looking forward to it!
Hey Nick,
We use a lot of pre-made claptons, it’s just easier. Lightening Vapes also sell clapton wire by the spool which is great too. As for gauges, we like thinner wire, it takes less time to ramp up, comes in higher ohms and tastes great for the temps and style we like to vape. A good rule is nothing larger than 26awg core and 36,38, or 40 outer. A fused is always 2 or more inner core wires. Using a Nichrome outer helps with ramp up time, just be wary that Nichrome breaks down faster than 316L or KA1 so change them more often to be on the safe side. Our Favs are a nice 28awg dual core with a 38awg outer all KA1. Don’t discount 316L though as you can use it in temp control.
As for the O-Atty, you’re right it is going to be a hard to get atty pretty soon and the market value is going to skyrocket. If you grabbed one you are going to love it, we can’t stop vaping ours, the airflow is just awesome. The build quality is awesome, and the juice well is huge.
Thanks again Nick for check us out. Vape on!
Hi Guys,
Just wondering if you have a new favourite coil on this, or still liking the 28/38 fused?
Also, any thought on coil height? I have just been going as low as I can get using a jig to place the coil, so no lower than the top of the base, but would be interested to hear your thoughts.
Thanks as always,
nick
Hey Nick,
It’s funny you mention this… We are planning on playing some more with the Hadaly this next week. We will let you know how it goes. We have noticed getting the coil bottom to align with the top of the airflow inlets seems best. Either way we will get back to you soon.
Hey Nic…
Sort of digging a simple 24awg, parallel, 3mm, 5wrap, coming in at 0.18 Ohms on a mech squonker (Runt Mini). Warm and Flavourful without being crazy rowdy.
I got my O-Atty today. unfortunately, the seasonal allergy is too bad today. I couldn’t taste anything from the vape. Ryan gave me an advice on what RDAs and RTAs I should go for. got the Drifter with the Odis ultem cap, Rose3 and now the O-Atty. they were very hard purchases but worth the money and effort. The only atty I’m straggling to get my hands on is the Hobo Driftank. Thanks Ryan for your advice. now I know what it mean to be a flavor chaser.
Hey Salim,
We are so happy to help and stoked for you! That’s quite the atty collection you’re building. Vape on!
teah man that’s really cool the kind of atty collection you are making and giving a chance to all of us to see it right here at flavourchasers.
keet it up man.
Hey Ryan!
Could you compare this atty with Hobo Drifter in terms of flavour (both clone to clone and authentic to authentic)?
I’m searching for a lil RDA for flavour, that could be easily set up and used with builds for low juice intake. Cause now I have TFV4, and it’s wicked sick in terms of juice drinking -_-
Hey Andrea,
Both are great flavour attys. Clone vs Authentic doesn’t matter if its a good clone. The drifter is a little tighter on the draw and the O-Atty can take beefier coils. If you are a fan of the TFV4 tank I suggest you give the O-Atty a go.
Bought the narda (clone) and fell in love. Read this review and bought the o atty (clone) and poor narda is collecting dust on my desk. Way easier to build, especially mounting thicker wire coils. No whistling and smoother draw. My favorite build is 8 wrap spaced 24g 3mm ss316l. O ring tolerance is loose on my clone though. Keep up the good work!
Dear ryan, how about to compare with serpent mini for flavour? Thx
Hey Andi,
The Serpent is an RTA with great flavour but the O-Atty being an RDA has more intense flavour (most RDAs beat out most RTAs for flavour intensity).
So finaly I got an O-atty!
So I put my favorite build (which is my favorite Narda build, which is my favorite dripper, which is my favorite vape, which is the only thing I vape these days, yeah!)
Sorry. So I put a 25ga kanthal 3mm ID, 5 and half spaced wraps, in diagonal, 0.5ohm at 30w.
First thing I notice: this atty is silent!!! I am not used to vape in almost complete silence!
When you get to know your Narda you can make it noiseless but never, in this world, silent!
It was a pleasure, a mix of astonishment and wondering…
Could that be the perfect one?
But 2 seconds after I was expulsing a huge cloud, very too huge for my taste, of a vapor that was kind of “diluted”. Ok big airy thing, I am going to clapton you! I am not a clapton guy, find them excessives and unpractical. But I did put a 26/32, 5 wraps. The taste of the vape was good, rich, dense but God! there was so much vapor in the living room that I was barely able to read my book.
Guys, you really think of this rda as flavor atty? Of course with that volume of vapor it got to taste something, the opposite would be against human laws.
Sorry guys, it is nowhere approching my Narda in taste and general quality of the vape. Plus, it is the first build deck that I hate. I really dont get it, this deck! What the hell?
Maybe a Hadaly next time.
Hadaly has a smart thinking behind his deck.
Am I the first one complaining that much about the O-atty?
Hey, this is a great atty. I’ve tried a fair few coils in it, even those ridiculous, oversized coils. I fancy the alien Clapton, just have issues keeping from touching the sides and grounding it out. It can be like playing “Operation”. Maybe, I’ll try the NarDA, but the flavor is great on this little guy.
Hey Ralph,
Maybe try smaller coils. 3mm or smaller are good. Check to make sure your wire leads are also clipped properly so they don’t touch the inner barrel of the top cap. Good luck.
Awesome review. I got my O-atty clone today it’s my first RDA so I’m still learning. Can you guys post a picture of what your optimum build looks like? I’m having trouble figuring out the best angle and height of the coil. I have a SS316L fused clapton (2.5mm ID), comes to 0.25ohms. The cap gets quite hot, is that normal?
Hey Zack,
Happy you grabbed an O-Atty. You are building too low, this is causing the unwanted heat. The pics in the gallery as well as the suggested build in the review will treat you right. Good luck, Vape on!
I have a stapled fused Clapton in my o-atty, and it’s built down to .17 ohms, and it gets pretty toasty. It’s just par for the course when you build low, especially in the reduced chamber RDA’s like this one. The heat doesn’t bother me, though. I’m still trying to figure out how I got the coil in there… Oh well. I’ve found the if you set the coil so the openings are facing the gap between the post and the air flow, that works best for positioning. Also, try getting the coil positioned above the air flow, if you can.
I’m TC Ti user, do you think this one works best as Clapton do for O Atty?
Hey Harianto,
No, Claptons are never that great for temp control, simple round wire spaced builds will always give better results.
Thanks Ryan!
So do you think we still can get same result using simple built of titanium coil in a TC mode instead of using Clapton coil in wattage mode for this atty?
Thx in advanced.
If compared to narda, which one is better for flavour?
Thank you
Hey Devis…
They are both very good. The NarDA is better for higher ohm builds and the O-Atty handles larger coils, with lower ohms. The airflow is much smoother and quieter on the O-Atty as well. Both are great, the O is probably easier to get too. Vape on!
