The NoPity RDA by NoName Mods out of Italy is a go to atty for many squonkers in Europe and now in North America. It’s pretty unique and incorporates some great design thinking. Oh, and the flavour!…
At first glance is looks like a cloudchaser atty, but it isn’t. It’s tall but necessary in order to accommodate the rather unique build deck and airflow. Essentially its a bottom airflow rda, which of course leads to good flavour, but it’s the way the NoPity accomplishes it that’s interesting. It’s a 4 post deck, but it has a negative and positive connection and dedicated airflow on each side. You can run a dual or single build (the single sitting in the very middle and using both sets of airflow and posts on only one side).
Flavour is incredible, the vapor is extremely dense and full of flavour. For what seems like such a simple idea it produces amazing results. We are amazed there is no spit back at all, the coils are basically centred right under the drip tip.
Airflow from the standard top cap wide open is a prefect restricted lung hit. It’s a quiet atty, the airflow is super smooth. We just run the standard fully open and haven’t needed any adjustment or want/need for the cloud cap (which has two more open airflow holes to make it an open lung hit). The biggest issue is the AFC tends to sweat a little onto you mod now and then (not sure anything can be done to alleviate this), and really it’s not that bad.
Building is finicky, we haven’t tried a single (we are too happy with our dual build to mess with it) which would be much easier. As for a dual build, it’s tight, hard to get both coils seated, the best method is to leave both coils loose until you can finesse both into place. Once their in your good, just align with the airflow and try to leave a bit of space in the middle (it will help with dripping). We are running some pretty crazy 28/36awg Staple Fused Claptons (Kanthal Core w/ N80 Outer) coming in at 0.3 Ohms and running it at 50W. It’s a great vape, not too warm, and we’re able to take long wonderful hauls with no sign of spit back.
Wicking it is easy, just get you wick leads to touch the bottom of the atty (they will be long). Dripping on the other hand is a bit of task. Because the coils are side by side in the centre of the atty, you can’t drip in the center (you will end up flooding your AFC), so you dip on the wicks to the sides, but they are side by side too, so getting you juice down to the well can be challenging. We get why this is so poplar as a squonking atty, this issue isn’t a problem and allows you to squonk like crazy with no worries of flooding. As for regular mode, we found a 10ml needle tip bottle to work best, it allows you to get to the bottom of the atty and through the wicks to the center of the deck to fill her up. It takes a lot juice, giving you tons of vape time between redrips.
This is a special RDA, it’s a bottom airflow dripper without the usual leaking issues and massive juice capacity to boot. The flavour is awesome and if you can deal with it’s minor shortcomings (finicky build & dripping) that are also what makes it so good, you should just spring for the authentic. The NoPity has quickly become a new favourite, it stays really cool (has to be the coil placement) and brings out super subtle flavour notes in every juice we throw in it. Looks like the Italian vape scene is heating up, we are excited to see what comes next.
Great review, Ryan! Could you tell me whether you know of any clones that allow for squonking, too? I.e. that come with a squonking pin in the box.
Thanks in advance!
Lionel
