Squonking just continues to be making a strong comeback. Mech Squonkers seem to be the mod of choice for many. As much as we don’t really like mechs, even we have been curious thanks to all the rage. Many popular mods are hard to get or rather expensive for what they are. Well along comes the Coppervape BF mod out of China that offers a great package at a really affordable price. Let’s check it out…
The Design is very similar to the much more expensive and hard to attain Custom Classic. Made from a solid piece of Aluminum, Brass or Stainless Steel, it offers a simple approach with a great hand feel. There is a nice balance to how it feels in the hand and both the button and bottle placements feel very natural and are within easy reach. The addition of an ON/OFF switch adds a little bit peace of mind and safety.
We are not experts with mechs but the switch mechanism works well and there is very little voltage drop from what we have experienced. A 0.2-0.3 Ohm build in your atty provides a great vape that lasts surprisingly long for a mech. You can get a good vape from 4.2-3.7V with very little difference in vape quality. We have no issues with heat or had any concern over battery safety, but we haven’t pushed builds below 0.2 Ohms either. We have been playing with SS430 wire which definitely helps with almost an instant ramp up.
The side mounted juice/squonk bottle feels really natural. Hitting the fire button with you thumb and squonking with you pinky or second last finger is a breeze. The 10ml juice capacity lasts a long time between refills. The whole mod is really small, basically the size of two 18650 batteries side by side (a little taller). Filling is easy too, just pull the top off and you get instant access to your bottle. The fact that the bottle fits into a solid chamber keeps it very secure with no movement, which is nice compared to some other squonk mods. We did find the included bottle a tad stiff and changed it out for a softer one, it fits the pretty standard 10ml bottles.
The fire button works as it should and the ON/OFF function is a simple twist that holds its setting (pocket friendly). The button doesn’t need a ton of pressure to fire but we would like to see a tiny less throw (not that it’s super long).
All the batteries we have used fit well with no battery rattle. The bottom battery cap is easy to thread for the most part, very occasional trouble. The threads aren’t perfect but by no means horrible.
If you are curious about this mech squonk craze, the Coppervape BF Mod is a great choice to give it a go without a ton of investment. We suggest you buy just mod, we bought it with the paired atty and we not impress with it, pair it with something better (a Hobo v3-3.1 is a great choice and easy to find second hand). We have really enjoyed the vape from this little guy. It’s well built and designed and functions great. The best part is how easy it is to grab and the cost won’t hurt a bit. Mech Squonking is pretty great!
