The CoilART Mage looks very similar to the Sigelei Moonshot, but it has an easier build, more juice capacity, and is everything the Moonshot isn’t. This is one compact little atty with a nice flavour punch that looks great on just about any mod.
It’s a clean design, mostly glass with tasteful branding and an integrated drip tip/top filling cap that not only looks good but feels great. There are a lot of similarities to the Moonshot, but there are also difference that make it a lot more user friendly. The build deck is attached to the base, it does spin, but is much easier to deal with when setting your coils. The wicking holes are a good size and perform very well. The deck is large enough to handle a large variety of coil types. It’s a 24mm atty but it performs and feels more like a standard 22mm. In this case the extra 2mm are used to increase juice capacity instead of the inner chamber, which is a good thing. The aesthetic is nice and clean, you can change out the o-rings in several included colours to get matchy-matchy if you like. Really its a nice short little atty with a decent amount of performance punch, it looks more like an RDA than an RTA.
Flavour is good for the way we like to vape, we are sure if you through in some hot, large claptons it might be even better, but with how condensed the chamber is and how short the chimney is we prefer the simple build we are using. It’s still on the great side of flavour, a decent intensity with a decent density to the vapor.
The AFC and airflow are very good, it’s smooth with tons of setting options. It’s a three inlet system that gets great coverage to your coils, the intakes inside the change are nice and large so there is no real bottle neck going on. Fully open there is barely any restriction for a full lung hit, we like it set to 1/3 open for a nice intensely flavoured nicely restricted hit.
Building on the deck is a pretty easy task thanks to the velocity style deck. It does spin in-order to work with the chimney but it doesn’t cause any trouble. We like a simple dual, 5 wrap, 24 awg, spaced, 2.5mm, coming in at 0.3 Ohms and run at 40-45W. It’s a perfectly warm vape with plenty of flavour. Wicking it is a bit old school, feed you wicks through the coils and leave the leads un cut, slide them through the center barrel section and line up the guides to align your wicking holes and secure it down. Now trim the wick leads to the top of the barrel and then gently push them down into place so they block off the wicking holes. It’s not super complicated but takes a couple builds to get used to. Once you get it right you can enjoy so nicely saturated coils every time.
Juice Capacity is pretty good for how short this atty is, somewhere around 2.5-3ml of juice. The top cap/ drip tip can be hard to get off if you tighten it down too much, so be careful not to and it’s best to leave it off when closing the tank with a fresh build to avoid doing so. The top fill ports are nice and large and fit a standard dropper easily. We haven’t had any leaking or sweating on fill whatsoever.
The Mage is a flavour RTA with a great nice and some pretty great flavour. It comes down to aesthetics, if it speaks to you grab one. We are going to keep ours around and in rotation. If you were turned off my the Moonshot maybe your should give this one a chance. This atty will definitely make some attys of 2016 lists.
